so beautiful and nice.

Posted by Pooriya at February 14, 2006 07:51 AM

A nice silhouette of the town. And I love the lamps...but the best thing is that awesome sky! Wow! :-)

Posted by DeWaun at February 14, 2006 08:19 AM

wow !
Nice work i love it .....

Posted by Edwin at February 14, 2006 08:20 AM

VERY nice. did you meter to the sky on this one, or is that just the exposure the XT evalutated in P?

Posted by Craiggiej at February 14, 2006 08:58 AM

I really like this shot. Its huge and the real show is the sky. Nice work.

Posted by Moeview at February 14, 2006 08:58 AM

Another great cloud and shadow shot. Very atmospheric.

Posted by D MacIntyre at February 14, 2006 09:17 AM

Fabulous sky. I love those huge clouds!

Posted by Dan :: genestho.ca at February 14, 2006 09:33 AM

I'm suprised you didn't process the RAW file to 2 files. One for foreground and another for the sky.

Posted by Maran at February 14, 2006 09:45 AM

wow, this one really looks like some kind of painting.
great job Sam, as usual.

Thanks

Posted by nicolas at February 14, 2006 10:05 AM

Nice work, I like how the city is underexposed showing just its silhouette. The detail in the clouds is awesome. A couple of my last few photos have a dramatic sky like that.

Posted by RyanT at February 14, 2006 10:22 AM

Can I make this my new computer wallpaper? wow, awesome.

Posted by Scarlet at February 14, 2006 10:27 AM

Another thought provoking picture from you. The clouds look seriously ominous. The silhouette of the buildings and lampposts are really apt, too!

Posted by PlasticTV at February 14, 2006 10:53 AM

Great sky and a fresh view of Oxford, yet again. Really nice.

Posted by Howard at February 14, 2006 11:14 AM

This incredibly moody photo recalls images of London, England, during the blitz.

Posted by Anne Gautreau at February 14, 2006 11:24 AM

Beauteous, beauteous clouds!!!!! Thanks for highlighting them like that, so that we could enjoy the detail, texture and variety and all their ethereal glory. It's also nice to see the detail in the rooftops and lampposts, which might go unnoticed in a regular daytime shot. Lovely photograph, Sam - thank you!

Posted by Kathy at February 14, 2006 11:29 AM

wow COOL!!

Posted by A thinker at February 14, 2006 11:35 AM

Great picture! The cloud at the top is beautifully segmented from the rest of the background, and I like how most of photograph is in grayscale, even though it was taken in color.
I have been a regular visitor to DDI for about a year now, and I love your work, Sam. Keep it up!

Posted by Temo Gomez at February 14, 2006 11:43 AM

As usual, you are the master of the cloud and silhouette. Your blog is a great place to start the day.

Posted by Graham at February 14, 2006 11:56 AM

Wow, that's very cool, the depth in this picture is excellent. Did you use a polariser, and did you do some postprocessing to increase the contrast between the sky and the buildings?

Posted by robron at February 14, 2006 12:04 PM

sublime... merci

Hey, it's Newfoundland in the sky! Sam, could you give us some photo editing tips with this one, because I would love to know how you altered this stunning image.

Wow, what an jaw-dropping picture! You never cease to amaze me Sam! This seems to picturize the phrase "the calm before the storm".

Posted by Khadeeja at February 14, 2006 12:46 PM

I think this shot is nice. I like the clouds in particular but the silo of the town is nice as well. Was this two shots? or just one? Anyway I think its nice and astheticaly pleasing...

Posted by Gary at February 14, 2006 03:21 PM

Wow!

Posted by Belipe at February 14, 2006 05:20 PM

i really love all the stuff you've been doing with clouds lately. down here in the south US, the clouds have been just as pretty. its good to know that the south doesn't get cheated out on everything but hot weather.

Posted by London at February 14, 2006 05:23 PM

Nice image, great sky.

Posted by john at February 14, 2006 05:39 PM

Not my fave photo, but it is okay I guess. I don't personally like that but I can see why people would really adore it.

Posted by NoLabels at February 14, 2006 05:41 PM

Wow, some of those clouds are so sharp. That is a great image, that sky is amazing!

Posted by BobC at February 14, 2006 06:11 PM

Stunning shot. I love how the street is in silhouette, so as not to take from the details of the spectacular sky.

Posted by Micki in Virginia at February 14, 2006 06:39 PM

was this one stiched togeather?

looks really long
but that just might be me

insane picture as usual

Posted by elias at February 14, 2006 06:51 PM

I'm just wondering...are you adjusting the contrast on these photos...or does the filter do that naturally?

Posted by A.R. at February 14, 2006 08:27 PM

once again great picture, your site is extremely addicting :) happy valentine's day by the way!

Posted by stephanie at February 14, 2006 09:22 PM

the photo is fanstastic, the clouds and the town have really nice effect of shadow and light

Posted by kyuzalt at February 14, 2006 11:23 PM

Stunning ... excellent post-production on this one.

Posted by Aaron Schmidt at February 14, 2006 11:24 PM

Your clouds are always amazing.

Posted by Emmeline at February 15, 2006 09:47 PM

The first thing that stood out is that the cloud's image to me looks like King Kong holding a lady up and looking at her.

Does anybody else see that image?

This is the first time I have posted here but since reading the article in the Toronto paper a few months back about you I have admired your work since. Always a pleasure.
