Comments: snow and vending machines

Nice subtle juxtaposition. Not a very tropical environment for the fruit juice machine.

A simply superb and colourful shot. Brilliant work!

very nice and perfect composition.

This is a very nice shot. The warm sunlight in the background combined with the rich colour's of the vending machines looks great.

i love this...coke v. coke; me v. me; us v. us = world of confussion...

the title should be, " 'LOST' so am I"

Great shot!
'Best served ICE-cold'
Good composition and color. There is a dark line at the border of the snow up to the vending-machines which irritates me a little.

At least you're guaranteed a cold drink. :) Great shot.

Posted by Anthony at February 11, 2006 06:54 AM

Nice shot! There's something quite funny about this one. Not sure if it's the huge mound of snow one needs to cross to get to those drinks, or if it's simply the repetition in the machines... Like there's going to be some sort of mad rush Coke, Minute Maid, and Water!! Do they know something I don't?

WVS, brought to you by Coca-Cola Bottling and it's respective brands.

when coke machines are outside in -20 degree weather does that mean they are heated to keep the drinks from freezing?

Posted by james at February 11, 2006 08:37 AM

This is a beautiful shot. Love the sunset in the background.

nice. very, very nice. definitely one of my favorites in a long time. the reflections on the snow, the pattern of vending machines, the sliver of sky at the top, its a stunning image.

i'm hoping that this is the last bit of snow we get. hopefully that groundhog is right. hehe.

my eyes are drawn to the bg. sunset?

I really like the way you captured that 'coke machine glow.' Also, I wonder if melting that dirty looking snow will still taste better than Dasani. =)

where is pepsi?

Posted by tee at February 11, 2006 12:52 PM

Fresh and sweet.

Interesting photograph. Why are those machines there anyway? lol. I like how you took this photo in the twlight.

Posted by NoLabels at February 11, 2006 02:08 PM

for some reason I want a coke now ;) - nice picture, good framing of the shot. seems a little too simple compared to your other stuff which is terrific. but yea, colorful overall. I could see this in an office at the coca-cola headquarters. the sunset in the background looks far more interesting I must say. you should post your EXIF photo metadata on the site and that would probably recude the "how'd you do that" comments.

Such a clever shot! Its a pleasure to wake up every morning and see a new image!

Posted by Jorge at February 11, 2006 05:26 PM

Great shot, I love how illuminated the vending machines look in comparison with the soft-colored snow and sunset in the background. It makes me imagine what it might look like.

Posted by mark at February 11, 2006 05:37 PM

THis is a fantastic shot! Almost seems like an ad :)

Posted by mari at February 11, 2006 10:03 PM

Wow, sort of defines the meaning of "Cold Drinks", doesn't it. Fantastic shot.

Great Picture :)
You have an excellent photo blog; I check it often. Keep up the good work!

i'm not quite sure what it was that worked for me here. Perhaps it's the dusk sky coupled with the blue tinge in the snow.

Btw read that a cold front's moving north. Hope Toronto'd be spared.

Cool pic!

You take my very favourite photos on the Web of a place in which I lived for far too short a time.

Thank you for your efforts and especially for your artistry!

Cheers!

Great colors. Makes me thirsty.

Posted by jasonspix at February 13, 2006 09:33 AM

It's like an external cooling system to keep the drinks cold. Fun shot... a very odd combination of subjects works so well here. I like the lighting on the snow as well.

If i remember correctly Dasani is a company owned by coke, when they released their bottled water in the UK the media went crazy because it is just tap water. The product was withdrawn never to be seen again. Now I know where it ended up :)

Posted by Stephen Paulger at February 21, 2006 05:11 AM

Yes, most amused to see Dasani, which totally died over here. Turned out that not only was it purest Sidcup tapwater, in processing the (perfectly drinkable) water, they managed to contaminate the lot with bromate. Oh dear, £7m marketing budget down the drain. Along with the water (but at least that hadn't cost them much in the first place).

Sorry this isn't a comment about the picture. Here's one: it's lovely - yet another one to put me to shame...
