Wow!! W-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l shot. All of your pics are great, but this one is really excellent. Congrats.

This reminds me of the dojo in "The Matrix"... ;) An industrial dojo ! Great photo !

Posted by Lorhkan at February 8, 2006 04:23 AM

Completely in awe of this shot. That is one powerful shaft of light! Brilliantly composed. Really really well exposed.

Posted by Dean Sherwood at February 8, 2006 04:32 AM

The description for this ray is impressionable.
I like it.
what camra did you use for this picture?

Posted by powerdrive at February 8, 2006 04:44 AM

the ray of light is excellent. yeah, it's like a scene from Indiana Jones :)

Posted by Eric at February 8, 2006 05:17 AM

belle photo.
Exactement ça, "Indiana Jones et les aventuriers de l'arche perdue" in french.

;-)

Great photo......back on track. In my opinion it is images like this that make DDOI consistently the top photo blog out there...or thereabouts. Great stuff Sam.

Wow - Very nice b/w. The Indiana Jones reference is very obvious.:)
I think the hard contrast works very well with the whole scene.
Nice work!

Posted by Martin at February 8, 2006 06:14 AM

This is a very nice image. The burnout of the highlights gives it that lovely celestial glow, and helps pick out all that great detail in the rear wall brickwork. Very nice work!

Posted by Tim at February 8, 2006 06:56 AM

Great timing

Posted by Sean Galbraith at February 8, 2006 07:42 AM

Superb photo!
This justifies why I envy your talent.
Composition is excellent. Obviously the light-ray makes the photo, but I also love how you use the lines on the ground to construct symmetry and depth. Nothing is casual, but everything looks natural.
Please, more stuff like this!

Posted by diwis at February 8, 2006 08:25 AM

Crazy light beam! Did you also watch someone get beamed-up or vaporized? Any casualties?? Hey, was this building built by the Mayan people? What it the equinox?? ;) Great shot. Really beautiful.

Posted by Dan :: genestho.ca at February 8, 2006 08:47 AM

Wow, definitely. It's in the building buried under the sand! ... They're digging in the wrong place!

Posted by Ethan at February 8, 2006 08:51 AM

Stunning, excellent B&W processing.

Posted by deceptive at February 8, 2006 08:59 AM

I love the Brickworks series. I think I preffered them in colour though. They seem to loose some texture or depth or atmosphere. Still a great shot!
cheers

Posted by Ruhh at February 8, 2006 09:02 AM

Haven't seen this place in a while. Every one of them has been great. It's nice to see it again. Wonderful light ray. And of course great texture on the brick.

Posted by Nate at February 8, 2006 09:03 AM

Oh yess lol I think too , I have seen the movie really funny

Posted by cams at February 8, 2006 09:26 AM

Awesome shot. You have great details in the shadows and even through the sunbeam. How did you meter this exposure?

Posted by Micki in Virginia at February 8, 2006 09:46 AM

Another fantasic shot. It's a shame the brickworks are gonna be demolished soon because there's some amazing scenes in there.

Posted by Graham at February 8, 2006 11:50 AM

Great tones and range Sam!

Posted by miles at February 8, 2006 12:07 PM

Very cool, there's movement even though I know everything must have been still.

Posted by Matthew Greco at February 8, 2006 12:31 PM

Another great one! You always do a great job with texture; this time you've (of course) done that, and added great lighting control to it. I don't know how you managed to maintain the amount of shadow detail you did, but - great work! Thanks for your site - it's my "daily dose of inspiration".

Posted by alborak at February 8, 2006 01:34 PM

impeccable, excellent tone !

Posted by pooyan at February 8, 2006 02:42 PM

wow this is a great photo...the light is so distinct.

Posted by lisa at February 8, 2006 03:33 PM

The Brickworks is such a photogenic place.
Great light, mood and post-processing.

Posted by Bella at February 8, 2006 03:48 PM

Excellent rendition of tones and excellent texture. I like this one a lot.

Posted by jbuhler at February 8, 2006 07:33 PM

can i get that in high res/desktop size?

please??

Posted by andrewqh at February 8, 2006 08:51 PM

Wow!
The sunlight looks like a laser beam.

Posted by tetsu at February 8, 2006 09:22 PM

Very nice composition. It's a great idea to shoot this photo B&W since you can concentrate on the light beam and make it more distinct in the picture. Even if you are using the same technique and take the photo in Colour mode, I believe this light beam will lose it's glaring effect. Good work! Keep it up!

Posted by Kavid at February 8, 2006 09:53 PM

Definitely looks like something dramatic is about to happen. :) Love how the details are preserved in greatest clarity.

Posted by PlasticTV at February 8, 2006 10:01 PM

This is an amazing shot. And I agree...it looks like the "Staff of Ra" would come in handy here!

Posted by D MacIntyre at February 8, 2006 10:21 PM

This is the one Sam. I've been wanting to order one of your pictures and was just waiting to decide on which. This one speaks to me. I love the ceiling.

One of your best I have to say. I agree with your Indiana Jones reference as well. Waiting for that big stone to start rolling by any second now. Excellent!

Hi,

just needed to add my comment here about this picture. we're homeless at this point, living in a hotel in Stratford, ON, and I got your site from Blogger's homepage. I started browsing through the pictures and I have to say I'm impressed, not just astounded, but they are making an impression on me... and my wife...

thanks for sharing your art and passion!
