Comments: wet intersection

It's definitely the wet road that makes this picture. I can see many abstract opportunities with the tramlines and the colours on the wet tarmac that would be well worth exploring.

nice. the wet road has an almost leathery texture to it and the shot captures the web of steetcar wires quite well.

Great pic... I love the lights!

The lights, the lines, the colours! Super shot.

Great picture. How do you manage to keep the camara steady at 1/10 ?

Another superb night shot, really really good and vibrant colours to boot.

why does the street look red? what shop trickery is this?

Posted by James at February 6, 2006 06:40 AM

Have you lost your desire? Your passion? This is yet another boring photo of an intersection... whoopee! You've posted so many like this recently I really don't know why I bother looking every day. What happened to showing me new perspectives, new angles... or just plain new?

You've gotta love those wet streets we've been having. No wonder the "movie folks" always hose down their street scenes! Looks great!

Sam, great photo! I like the blur of the car and the lights of the night on the road.

I like how the road looks like plastic, but this photo lacks a clear (and interesting) subject.

Posted by cache at February 6, 2006 10:22 AM

love the colors here

Great shot, Sam !! I'm french and when I saw the road I immediatly thought about a chocolate cake, don't you think ?

Keep goin'

Jay.

I understand Sam's pain and why he is taking so many wet city road shots. We're supposed to be in the dead of winter here in Toronto, with plenty of photo fodder all around the city, richly displaying their winter plumage. For some reason winter has been mostly absent this year. Let's hope the snow we've gotten yesterday is the start of something that lasts...

Lovely lines on the ground. While the lighted ground looks pretty, I don't like the overall red tone to it. Neverless, interesting picture of a not so interesting place!

very beautiful street shot. nice reflection lights on the street. perfect composition.

The tracks on the road make this shot. The effect they create is great.

I like this picture because it's more of the stuff I do. It's obviously not your best work but it is different and unexpected from you which makes it unique.

Posted by Dave at February 6, 2006 01:02 PM

Wow an excelent shot sam, the road looks like polished leather & so many cables in the air like a web.

I agree with Robert's comments (above). Many of your recent photos are very ordinary! What's happened?
My first suspicion is that a 'stand-in' is shooting these while you are on vacation.
I'll continue to look every day because I know you can do better.

pretty boring shot of toronto, i think toronto it's a great great city, but why don't you focus on that??

Posted by javier at February 6, 2006 03:11 PM

Like Sam said at his lecture, why don't YOU try coming up with a jaw-dropping exciting photo every damn day! Sheesh.

Posted by James at February 6, 2006 04:11 PM

Nice, the wet ground looks like leather.

Posted by noushin at February 6, 2006 04:55 PM

This is not boring. This is what the city feels like to those who live in it. I find it amazing the corners that you've gotten into Sam. You seem to have been everywhere... though there are a few areas I haven't seen yet, but wait with curiousity to see if you will capture them. I like the real-time aspect of your daily photos. Go with where you're at. The purists out here like it, and I think Toronto is worthy of it too.

Yes T.O.'s been wet and the snow is coming down now. The streetcar tracks would've looked cool if shot from a higher angle. I like the pic anyway!

Posted by don at February 6, 2006 11:49 PM

Nice shot Sam, looks like leather floor.

Posted by nima at February 7, 2006 12:07 AM

Cache claims the photo is lacking a clear and interesting subject. I think that it is quite obvious that the ground is the subject. The leather like texture of the ground makes it a good photo. Just a good photo, not as extraordinary as your work used to be. Sam, please, come back!

Posted by diwis at February 7, 2006 08:33 AM

the reflections on the road here are really really well captured.

Posted by lisa at February 9, 2006 02:32 AM

I like the reds on the silky wet street. Interesting action and life to this shot - I love it!
