The dog in the corner makes this photo unique. Nice lighting as well.

Loved all your photos. Keep seeing life so profoundly and living it fully.

Very good!

Nice warm tones to go along with that warm winter.

Case of Global warming? Incidentally, weather in northern India is unnaturally cold. Delhi recorded near freezing temperatures, the lowest recorded in last seventy years.. now we know why.. misplaced cold coordinates ;-)

aside from the "improbably" high quality of this picture, this foto has a very similar feel to faded family album snapshots i have from the early 70s!: obviously the incidental colour palette, but also the unexcluded "clutter" of the street and the in-motion capture of the dog. right-on!

The photo does convey the warmth you talk about - almost a feeling of sprint in the air

Hey Sam, my first comment of the New Year, so Happy New Year to you, first off.

My attention in this pic is drawn, not to the dog, but to the well-placed cloud (or is it steam?) at the top of the building in the background, which makes it look as if an escape pod is being launched from the top!

"Unusually warm winter, isn't it? I'm outta here!"

*pshhhffffff*

Or something :-)

Anyway, all the best for '06. Keep up the excellent work!

beautiful shot.
nice and amazing...

Great dog. Woof!

Wow, unreal that you can see that much grass in TO. My initial reaction was about how brown the shot was especially seeing it was taken way earlier than say, yesterday... Right, read the caption, my inner voice reminds me. Nice one. In Montreal, we're still knee deep in snow!

The dog makes the picture. Also one my of favorite breeds. Looks like a airedale.

That's funny, here in São Paulo, Brazil, this summer isn't the usual warm... It's have been a lot of raining and ugly days... (but I prefer it than that very hot days)... Well, I think the weather of the world is really changing...
I love your photos!

Beautiful colour!

This is absolutely beautiful. I like the warmth in this foto very much. The running dog caught nearly still adds just enough life and motion. The raised elevation of the park against the recessed background gives a wonderful perspective. The color rendition fits incredibly with this scene. This is a great foto, Sam, and one of my all-time favorites now! Excellent!

My favourite city, my favourite breed of dog (I own two Airedales, and you've captured the exuberance of the breed brilliantly), all wonderfully encapsulated in a gorgeous shot. Thanks for making my day, as you often do!

FYI those buildings on the left are part of the Toronto housing project featured in 'Bowling for Columbine' as an example of "the projects" in Canada.

Calgary was having a bizarrely warm winter too, up until about 2 days ago... Not to foretell doom or anything ;)

I love your photos - when life slows down a little, I'd love to do a photoblog myself.

So all the snow's gone? I thought it snowed for the whole of the summer in canada. Global warming eh.

I heard about the weather in Delhi. Apparently it was mentioned in the film 'The Day After Tomorrow'.

Woof...woof! That's my old dog park!! Thanks for the pic! I LOVE it!

i am loving this warm winter... i wish summer would never end but you know winter is going to hit us like a brick wall soon

Posted by Jeff at January 13, 2006 03:15 PM

January is usually the coldest month of the year. These past few days have made me feel springlike!

Posted by A.R. at January 13, 2006 04:08 PM

The exuberant dog makes this photo! Thanks, Sam!

With regard to the unsual springlike weather here, I was just reading a published journal from the early 1900's that spoke of similar weather in Toronto that January, during a winter with almost no snow. So it's happened before, prior to our knowledge of global warming!

Rotten weather for backyard ice rinks! Bleah!

Love this pic, the dog caught mid jumping is cute...

Toronto is not the only place with a warm winter. Atlanta has been warmer than usual (we always have a warmer winter than most places), we normally get at least one snow flurry.

This is an awesome photo. I like the colors, even if they aren't bright and vibrant. They all match with each other.

i wish i was that dog! way to go sam

Nice photo, but it's "The Esplanade", not Esplanade Avenue. :-)

Posted by Meredith at January 14, 2006 03:00 PM

A very heartwarming photo. The dog really seems to be enjoying itself basking in the winter sun. The buildings are just a little slanted to the right, or is it just me?

Posted by PlasticTV at January 14, 2006 10:35 PM

Love this photo for all the reasons mentioned already, but especially because the dog looks so much like my own beloved wire-haired terrier Shirley. Shirley is mostly white, with just a heart-shaped grey spot on one side. Let her loose in the park and she's a rocket dog!
