i thought your focus is the wallpaper one ;) cool shot, Sam.

I LOVE IT!
This is so cleverly shot, with the balloon in the middle and the whole wall as much a background as a fore front.

nice one, i really like it because it's totally different from your usual shots. only thing i dislike is that guys moving head. was it that dark you had to shoot at 1/20? doesn't look like that. um.

Sam:

Wow - great work! I am here in Toronto. Do you maintain a gallery? I am currently looking to purchase a couple of good black and white prints. I am also looking for pictures of runners?

Thanks, Scott

Cool scene created with the man juxtaposed over the mural. Me likes!

All the thrill of a food court ;-)

I like the juxtaposition of this one, the man looks so passive in front of the mural.

Posted by rosh at January 9, 2006 10:45 AM

Clever, I agree. I have shot wall paintings and murals in the past, but never indorrs and never with a human element. Here, I think the man adds dimension to this image. He also seems to blend in pretty well with the scene.

Quit taking nice pictures, it's too hard to make terrible comments on a nice picture, although....... I do think that clown might be gearing up for something nasty with those kids. And that guy in the grey suit just doesn't seem right. Colonele Sanders seems a little too happy to be walking with that kid in the purple shirt. looks like he'll be finger licking good! And don't get me started on the re-invention of Hall and Oats playing the instruments. It looks like they're back from the 80's and ready to take the world by playing a squeeze box and a childs guitar. In fact, the only normal thing in this picture is a patriotic kid riding a skate board by power of the ostrich. Now that says a lot!
I guess there was something to this picture after all. Thanks Javanroh. (I won't call you Sam, because I don't want anyone to know your full name!)

For three or more months I have seen your picture almost every day. I was admiring them already before, but since New Year I am really amazed by your choice of subject, idea and composition.

wowwww, wonderful

Love this photo! You should try the same kind of shot in York's Deli in the Royal York with the awesome animal wall painting there.

Posted by Sarah at January 9, 2006 01:27 PM

It's as if the man has merged into the mural. Queer and nice. :)

i do love it!

Thank you for that, Sam.

Fantastic shot -- the vibrant colours are a nice change of pace from all the snow-filled photos of late. (And I agree with others, that clown is up to no good.)

I absolutely love, love this photograph! Great job!

My wife and I just discovered your site. You have amazing work. We have now added it to our daily routine, seeing your daily contribution. Being in the States with plans of immigrating to Toronto within a few years, your work means a lot to us.

Am i the only one here who doesn't enjoy this picture? I tend to love Sam's work but i find this picture extremely uncreative. All the drama and interest of the image comes from the painting, a work that Sam DID NOT create, so why give him credit? He just had the idea to take a picture of a large colorful mural that many others have done before him, only he gets the grand idea to place someone arbitrarily in front of it. In essence, to mean absolutely nothing. I'll still vote in the bloggies for you, i just do not like this photo one bit. Peace.

I like how the drumming woman is sitting on the table to the right.

The live man in the mural is surely eating backbacon on a bun, isn't he?

Thanks as always, Sam!

i love toronto too, but i also love every picture on this website. all the pictures you take seem to have so much life in them and represent toronto so properly. great job once again.

I think what is so good about this foto is that the man eating lunch looks like a part of the painting - absolutely fantastic, Sam!

I like the ostrich.
