Extremely well done.

sorry but shots like this are oh, so boring.... even the "simpler" shot of the racing firetruck was cooler.... maybe if there were people in here, it would add some drama, otherwise, it looks like an advert for the mal....

Posted by sami jan at January 4, 2006 01:02 AM

How did you get a shot in this place with no people around?

Posted by Darren at January 4, 2006 01:21 AM

really nice, except i really wanna c how it looks like in one view, without scrolling up&down.

Posted by Obada at January 4, 2006 01:56 AM

wow...

Posted by Matt Gallisdorfer at January 4, 2006 02:01 AM

Wow - absolutely gorgeous! I love the motion of the escalator. If it wasn't bad enough that I'm considering spending a ton of $ for a new lens and speedlite, now I have to consider this realviz software.

Posted by Abe at January 4, 2006 02:33 AM

I'm liking these stiched panoramas.

Awesome stuff as always.

Posted by Chris Nolan.ca at January 4, 2006 02:48 AM

Nice shot as usual. How did you manage not to get a single person in the shot?

Posted by MM (Italy) at January 4, 2006 02:52 AM

Great panorama. The bottom part with the escalator is the part that I like most because of the movement captured.
Where are all the people? Strange.

Posted by nuno f at January 4, 2006 03:36 AM

Easy to get lost in the lines. Nice work.

Posted by insidelookingout at January 4, 2006 03:41 AM

Wow! Love the blur.

Posted by Alexei at January 4, 2006 03:45 AM

Hi!

Great photo! I like the motion blur of the escalator.

In your description you mention Realviz as "a complicated yet powerful software". Have you heard of The Panoramafactory (www.panoramafactory.com). I think that's "an easy yet powerful software". You should try it!

Greetings from an admirerer of your work,

JAV

love the slow shutter effect for the escalator. Looks like it's going way too fast to get on lol. Awesome site! I check out the newest photo everyday while getting ready for work. Keep it up

Posted by Joe at January 4, 2006 05:33 AM

I would never know it was stiched together had you not told me! This is great -- The escalator really adds a lot of height to the image! Almost makes me dizzy!

Posted by stephanie at January 4, 2006 05:49 AM

Like the effect of 1sec exposure on the escalator.

Posted by Maran at January 4, 2006 07:31 AM

so symmetric, good. too dim colors by me

Posted by lksik at January 4, 2006 07:35 AM

Great shot - the movement of the escalator is great. I love the height on many or your shots.

Posted by Phil at January 4, 2006 08:17 AM

Very cool.

Posted by Moeview at January 4, 2006 09:10 AM

this is good but i am waiting for more gritty street shots, more candid people shots from you. that is what won me over to your photoblog in the first place.

Posted by Jesse at January 4, 2006 09:19 AM

I like your photos and I think the ones that offer an extremely long page view which require the viewer to scroll down might have a link to a smaller image that could be viewed on one page. I like to scroll down the photo as that gives a great feeling of the size which you are trying to capture. However I still think a link to a smaller photo at the bottom of the page would be great and give the viewer an interaction with your photos.

Posted by Gary Bailey at January 4, 2006 09:44 AM

whoa! this one blows my mind! the whole vertical panorama is one thing, but what really got my attention was the geometry and motion of the escalator. very nice!

Posted by payam at January 4, 2006 10:06 AM

Sam, You rock!
I was there just before christmas and I didn't have a camera and i loved how the lights looked.

Posted by joan at January 4, 2006 10:10 AM

Very cool image. I really like the way you've used the escalator as a frame for the lower portion of the image. One question though...where are all the people? The place seems so unnaturally empty.

Posted by Justin at January 4, 2006 10:20 AM

Nice shot! I love BCE Place. For the record, it is not a mall, it is more like a lobby/public space at the base of some office towers which is why if you go on a Sunday it can be very quiet. Also the Hockey Hall of Fame is located way at the far end.

Posted by Dan at January 4, 2006 10:47 AM

Absolutely stunning.
I think you should give Calatrava a shout.

Always impressed,
canbui.

Posted by Can at January 4, 2006 11:07 AM

That is startling, Sam. The way the escalator leads into it is marvelous. Makes a quite strange overall effect. You've done a masterful stitching job. I can't see a single distorted line. You do well at getting matching images even when you don't use a tripod it seems. You seem a very patient graphic artist.

Posted by Hugh Petrie at January 4, 2006 11:12 AM

While this one is undoubtedly an easier stitch then the eaton's center one a couple days ago, I think this one was better done. The emptiness highlights the line down along the building (and the middle of this picture) perfectly.

Posted by Graham at January 4, 2006 11:27 AM

Wow! I just discoverd this site today and I'm amazed by the eye-catching photos. I went around Toronto myself and take pictures but nothing compared to this. I just started photography at school. This inspires me to take better photographs. Keep up the awesome work!

Posted by NoLabels at January 4, 2006 11:42 AM

Very nice.

Wow!!!!

Posted by PrimoDonna at January 4, 2006 01:29 PM

Hey...
This is really cooooooool. i never knew you could stich photoes!!! the only thing ive ever stiched were my torn pants.
It was great.
:)

Posted by Nafiseh at January 4, 2006 01:43 PM

The stitching is spot on, the symmetry is great. Really like the composition. Good work!

Posted by Neil at January 4, 2006 04:03 PM

I love it. What a beautiful building, and what a beautiful capture of that beauty.

Posted by Raffi at January 4, 2006 04:06 PM

Visually stunning. I never get tired of looking at your photos. I am in total awe!

Posted by Jana at January 4, 2006 04:23 PM

for once i wondered - what kinda escalator is that.. but the exposure time then explained me.. really well shot n stitched :)

Posted by prasoon at January 4, 2006 04:45 PM

diggin' your wide-pan series, Sam.

Posted by 6oh at January 4, 2006 05:18 PM

Why do I always see you doing something like f6.3? Your lens will present better quality at something like 11 or 16 and if you have a tripod it makes sense...

Posted by ry at January 4, 2006 07:22 PM

i thought it was an ultra wide angle lense for a second, thats how good the stitching is!! super shot.

Posted by tuan at January 4, 2006 11:30 PM

great image! I like in particular the choice of including the stairs. Ever heard of Autostitch? It's free and easy. I have some panoramas taken with it on my photoblog.

Posted by Paolo at January 5, 2006 10:46 AM

Nevermind the stitching, what the long exposure did for the escalator is fabulous. I'm used to seeing waterfalls and such in nature photography with the long exposure for the blur of notion, but the empty escalator is just great.

Posted by A.R. at January 5, 2006 12:12 PM

Superb, again!

Posted by steve at January 5, 2006 04:23 PM

Damn, this is really cool. Well done!

Posted by Bloggie at January 6, 2006 05:36 AM

Awesome picture Sam. I don't think anybody can stitch the panoramic photos like you do, no matter how easy the program is to work with.
What surprises me the most about this picture is that why they should run the escelator at that time of the night. Funny when you think about it, isn't it?

Posted by Payam at January 6, 2006 07:50 AM

wow, it looks so symmetrical.

Posted by rosh at January 6, 2006 10:39 AM

Wow! I think this is great!

Posted by vmags at January 7, 2006 08:21 AM

The motion blur of the escalator really makes this shot for me. It was worth the long scroll down

Posted by Nancy (swardraws) at January 8, 2006 10:33 PM

Simply wow image !
The perspective is impressive, the lines and the light are very effective. well done !

Posted by JakeLM at January 9, 2006 07:07 AM

Stitching or not, the angle, movement and lines are outstanding. Beautiful depth. I've used Realviz Stitcher here at work for interiors of the International Space Station nodes and it truly is an outstanding program. Well done.

Posted by Warren at January 10, 2006 03:20 PM

I like it 'oversized' like this, because as I scroll down and the image is revealed, the escalator movement surprises me. Cool.

Posted by ladysmantle at January 12, 2006 05:17 AM

Cool shot. You really capture the height here.

Posted by Caryn at January 15, 2006 07:12 PM

i can't believe you didn't won photo friday noteworthy - i've voted for you. the photo is perfect, i love it!
