Cooool shot!

It's like this photo is dressed to match -- complimentary tones, very symmetrical - very nice!

Healthy butcher, and he is in for a killing if the sports car is any indicator.

I love your straight-on urban shots. This one has so many interesting contrasts.

Sam, you're a miracle man. The yellow of the sign and the - ah Mustang? Perfect!

That is one tidy looking butcher shop - and I note the painting hanging on the back wall. The general darkness adds to this shot for sure. Of course, we wonder if the car is the butcher's? You should point the butcher to the shot - a sale - maybe a treade for a good steak?

Very sleek. :)

Not being from Canada I don't know so perhaps there's a reasonable explanation for this. Having looked at all (okay, most) of your wonderful pictures I'm curious: is there some kind of law that says "Sidewalks must be decorated with long rows of boxes and/or bags?" Or maybe that photographers must take some high percentage of shots containing these?

Nice ambient color. Good shoot

elegant!

Hi Sam, love your shot. From looking at your picture, it seems that used Photoshop to emphasize the car and de-emphasize the building. Can you give us some hints as to what you did? Again, great shot!

And thank you Sam for entertaining us with your pictures in the 2005. I wish you and your wife a Happy, Prosperous, and Healthy New Year!

this one's perfect!

the car is a firebird, nice shot!

Im not sure what it is about this shot. Its not that exciting really, but at the same time I like it. The first thing that strikes me is the name of the butchers. I find this very funny. Not to say that they cant be healthy, but its still a rather humorous name for a butchers.

Secondly there is the light, so few lights, and they brighten the shot so well, producing quite a warm feeling, though I'm sure it was nothing but warm.

As for the car, its just beautiful, and the colour couldnt have been more appropiate; suiting the colours already in place so well.

This is great, colors and composition are perfect. It feels alive.

Great tonal combination between the car and the building. For a 1/3s exposure at 800 ISO, this photo is very sharp. I see that steady hands can do the trick in low light situations like this one.

Happy New Year to you and your family and continue gaving us viewers fantastic shots like you did during 2005. : )

End of the month moving day. Obviously moved in as the boxes are empty. It is a wonderful shot.
Thank you

oh my god, a week ago I was impressed with a handheld at 1/15 of a second, NOW THIS IS A 1/3 OF A SECOND, whats next, 5 seconds, haha. Nice shot but im not so sure about that 2/3s of an arc at the left portion of the image, but then again I guess it was your only option to avoid putting the car in the very center of the image, but maybe a full arc would have been nice.
I would love if you could post in the forum your photoshop workflow, i see you like to play with saturation and filters, and this image must have some perspective correction (too straight).

if only it said, the wealthy butcher...

Posted by shanb at January 10, 2006 03:08 AM

The butcher is actually a cycling fan. He might park his bike in front of the store for a shot.

I'm the owner of The Healthy Butcher... unfortunately, I'm not the owner of the car though.
Nice shot! Hard to believe a year has passed since this photo was taken.
