This is a great shot...nice muted colors. It would make an awesome background for a powerbook if you released the higher quality version =)

Posted by Chase at December 8, 2005 01:17 AM

i don't know how you get these fantastic photos. somehow, your photos are just that touch more interesting and eye catching than anyone elses. love the perspective in this one especially!

Posted by nazzie at December 8, 2005 01:39 AM

This is full of emptiness! I like the quietness of this shot.

Posted by noushin at December 8, 2005 01:50 AM

Great snowy scene and 2 lots of leading lines!

Posted by Ben at December 8, 2005 02:52 AM

that absolutely blew me away!!

great job! =)

Nice shot.
You're a Digital Darkroom Wizard ! You should write a book to help those (like me) which are not.

The promised post processing breakdown of the pumpkin field photo could help us to calm down waiting for this book ;-)

To see one of your shots every day is a daily pleasure. Thanks a lot, Sam.

Amicalement,

Hey Sam. Really like this one -- something very peaceful about it. Like the asymmetric composition, too; the opposite way round to how most people probably would have done it. Hate to ask, but is there any danger of a wallpaper of this one? Think this should be my Christmas desktop!

Wow! Brilliant. I'm a daily visitor of this place and you keep surprising me...keep looking and shooting.

Posted by Xander at December 8, 2005 06:16 AM

Perfect snowy shot.
I like the cloudy sky and snowy road.

Posted by Pooriya at December 8, 2005 06:20 AM

you take the most awesome pictures. what camera would you recommend to buy for the best quality pictures? like yours.

Posted by liz at December 8, 2005 07:03 AM

Brrrrr!!! That looks cold!!! The snow looks beautiful, though! Great shot!!

Posted by stephanie at December 8, 2005 07:30 AM

Very nice. You should include shooting mode in the little information box that pops up when your mouse is over the image.

Posted by Jesse at December 8, 2005 08:17 AM

Oh my God! Becoming frozen! So diferent when I was visiting Toronto in July! But...beutiful view!

Posted by elizabeth at December 8, 2005 08:30 AM

Beautiful Canadian winter landscape. Nice one. Hey, do you have a "cloud filter" or something? You seem to always manage to find the best clouds in the sky! So thought you might just have a filter with clouds painted on it... Ya know! ;) Amazing.

Posted by Dan at December 8, 2005 08:48 AM

what a beautiful landscape!

Posted by izzy at December 8, 2005 09:20 AM

I really enjoy the contrast in texture between the sky which seems smooth like silk and the jagged little peaks of the windswept snow.

Posted by Vig K at December 8, 2005 09:39 AM

You can really see a storm is coming. The light from behind is very foreshadowing. Or maybe its the opposite.

Posted by Angie Cooper at December 8, 2005 09:56 AM

Great photo, but I suspect there's too much post-processing here. That sky is too unnatural a blue.

Posted by Soloman at December 8, 2005 10:10 AM

Looks a bit cold there. ;P I like the contrast of the white(ish) snow and the white(ish) clouds.

Posted by David at December 8, 2005 10:51 AM

Awesome. For us folks in Georgia, it's rare to see snow. :(

Posted by Chris at December 8, 2005 10:57 AM

What a great shot. Love the clouds and lighting in the sky. You got it just right. Gotta love winter. Looking forward to taking shots like this here in Rochester NY. Love the photos!

Posted by Lara at December 8, 2005 11:41 AM

The road looks as though it leads to the storm and if you follow it, something's bound to happen.

Posted by Chaser at December 8, 2005 12:40 PM

The vivid colours - crispy winter captured on film (digitally speaking)... How did you do it, man?

Posted by plastictv at December 8, 2005 12:44 PM

i was born and raised "north of toronto" (in northeast markam) and this reminds me of home. there is so much great scenery in that area. it's really too bad scenes like these are getting rarer, the past ten years have seen the rural areas get pushed further and further north. there are so many stories and such great history along those beautiful dirt roads. i really need to take a trip back. great shot, it warms my heart, even with that sprinkling of snow.

Posted by chris at December 8, 2005 01:13 PM

Your photos make me eagerly anticipate every day that I turn on my computer for the first time.

Posted by Dominic at December 8, 2005 01:27 PM

THIS IS AGREAT PIC, THE COLORS ARE EXCELLENTLY CAUGHT, I CAN FEEL THE LONELINESS OF THAT MOMENT. I REALLY ENJOY THESE KIND OF PHOTOS, AND SPECIALLY YOURS. BELIEVE ME YOUR PIC'S ARE WONDERFUL, A DAY CAN'T GO THROUGH WITHOUT WATCHING YOUR PIC'S.

Posted by ALE at December 8, 2005 03:35 PM

This picture made me long to move back up north. I hate Florida :(

any chance of a wallpaper?

Posted by david at December 8, 2005 04:33 PM

wowzers.... (yes, that IS a real word)
perleeease can we have this as a desktop image?
that is so beautiful and wintery and christmassy,.... ahhhh!

Posted by lara at December 8, 2005 05:49 PM

Let me guess, this must be Major Mackenzie Drive near Woodbine? Do tell me if my guess is correct, hopefully my visual memories are good enough to identify roads from a picture :)

Everyday vistas the public miss, we the photographers capture and share. Thanx

Posted by Spoke at December 8, 2005 06:45 PM

woah!! can you make this a wallpaper?
please?? :)

Posted by oscar at December 8, 2005 08:46 PM

Nicely done!!! You amaze me often. Your framing is akways on, I especially was impressed by the farmer the other day, the camera is clearly on your side. I've set your page to open everyday, but I leave my computer on so much that I see your page about 2 times a week and everytime I always check out whatever I missed, it's a pleasure i like to savour.

Posted by Damon` at December 8, 2005 09:08 PM

Thats a very beautiful pic. It's almost as if its half realism, and half cgi. Nice.

Posted by Raffi at December 8, 2005 09:23 PM

Does this picture remind anyone else of the movie The Jacket?

Posted by Drew at December 9, 2005 12:15 AM

Looks like you, Chris and Shahin escaping from your encounter with that Redneck on the big tractor!

Posted by Jim at December 9, 2005 12:36 AM

Peggy, if you see Major Mackenzie Drive at Woodbine as it is today, you'll never recognize it. It used to look like this, but now Major Mac is a 4 lane monster.

Posted by Michael at December 9, 2005 02:46 PM

Wow! Such beautiful color and perspective! No fotos inspire me like yours do.

Posted by Abe at December 9, 2005 03:58 PM

Despite every other comment, I see nothing extraordinary about this picture. The composition is not very interesting, the lighting is not anything different, and it's something everyone would notice. There is not much below the surface on this one. It could also be due to the fact that living in Wisconsin makes you immune to these kind of scenes. Maybe in black and white this would be a bit more interesting, possibly accentuating the clouds more. I know you can do better Sam.

Posted by John at December 10, 2005 12:41 AM

fantastic photo. I love it. Everything else has been said above.

Posted by Gabor Kovacs at December 15, 2005 09:18 AM
