Comments: coca cola in oxford

Great find, and the colours too! Red and black, one of the most popular colour schemes (me thinks).

love the red van, especially the reflection on it. forms a nice contrast with the black and gold shop behind

Oooh! Coke!! Fun! Great color in this photo! I love the traditional Coca Cola on the new weird looking car we don't have in the states.

wow quick change of country, toronto America to Oxford england. Also shiny coca cola van........

Great colors ... and we could see you in the car's reflection ... @_@

very good view and compose.
the symmetry of the oxford shop is nice.

Strange looking roof on the Van... are they trying to make it fly? :)

Good to see even old world universities get the essentials like Coke delivered!

Great colors here. Love the bright shiny red Coca-Cola truck against the black storefront. Very sharp too. Nice capture, Sam.

Curious, did you stand there awhile waiting for someone to drive something interesting into the field of view, or did this 'just happen' while you were taking shots of the shop?

Posted by Rod Thomas at November 17, 2005 08:59 AM

I like the colours of the shot (as usual). This shot isn't the most arresting image but it does go to show how commercialized everything in our world is, doesn't it?

coincidentally enough, im wearing my souvenir oxford t today that i got from that exact shop. woo.

ooooo good one! i love the juxtaposition of such a traditional business as the oxford university shop and the business giant that is coca cola!! i like this one, makes me smile!
ps sam if you liked oxford, you should definately make a trip to cambridge sometime, its similar... but better!!! (yes, i am biased)

Great colours! The red stand out so nicely. I do a lot of model photography and Red is one of my favourite colours to incorporate in my pictures. Again, very nicely done.

Love the red of the van and the reflection it.

Great pics here! Love it!

I like the trucks design, especially the windows, but CocaCola sucks. Gives me a headache. And besides - it hasn't been the real thing since they removed the cocaine. Funny!

Really nice truck though!

Um? Do have to say, Sam, that any kid could have taken this one. Not among your great shots, but it does show me a different truck than I've previously seen. Ah well. Even news photographers have to do the mundane at times. And you were there to see.

All kids love a red truck.

Ahem, Jon: Toronto is in CANADA.

The coke red is lovely n captivating.. Great capture !

Posted by prasoon at November 17, 2005 04:17 PM

Hey! I shopped there one time! Yay being for being a tourist.

Posted by Gaby at November 17, 2005 06:13 PM

It's been a long time, but I think I bought an Oxford sweater in that shop.

When I wear it, people think I was actually a student there!

Am I morally obligated to correct their assumptions?

Posted by natasha at November 17, 2005 06:55 PM

I've been in that shop before. Oxford's full of good pictures. Kudos to Sam for finding a subject in that town that's not at least 200 years old.

It looks like a car out of Richard Scarry! I half expect a worm to be sticking out of the top with a little steering wheel! :-)

Posted by Dave H at November 17, 2005 10:42 PM

wow, well that is one... small cocacola... tru-car.
compared to what we have in chicago... that stuff is well designed and... well, small.

anyways, the picture is great, i love the colours, what an excelent place to capture this photo; the stores behind look like a backdrop to movie!

Interesting that the street numbers are consecutive - 105 is next to 106, rather than being across the road.

Last I knew Canada was part of North America, strange though that the United States has completely undertaken the title of "America." Well, I'm from the states and i realize Canada is far superior....

Boy! Everybody mentions the red, but I actually like that bluish-grey colour. Though I have to admit, that red brick wall - wow - that is so red that I'm almost bleeding just looking at it. I always enjoy trying to figure out what our host wants us to see in his pictures. Nice work once again.

Posted by Francine at November 18, 2005 09:53 AM

Sam. I always love your pictures. I love them for their purity and simplicity. But today you've raped me of that! How dare you put in advertisment in your photo!! First it was radio, then movies got ruined and now the rich and famous Sam has stooped to product placement in his artwork!! Well I hope they paid you a lot of money for your soul, because what you did was equal to killing eight babies! Enjoy your mountian of money baby killer!!

Coop.

Walk past that shop almost daily and the van is made by Renault.

Posted by jamie at November 18, 2005 12:56 PM

Love the colors and the satin-like finish.

Posted by Abe at November 18, 2005 09:22 PM

Great colors and lines. I guess that building is somewhat off since the street appears to be straight :)
