Comments: fall afternoon shopping

Really like the lighting; it's great the way it hits the footpath.

Absolutly lovely Sam, as good as the rainy shot 2 days ago which blew me away, (this has just blown me back!) sometimes in the early hungover morning your talent pushes me on...
Bless you..
PS Why don't you come to the lake district, autumn's best..

bright and dark in the same time. the shadows are also great.

A great capture, Sam!
It looks like a very daring idea, shooting this subject directly into the sun; but it really worked. Congratulations!

Wow. This would seem too dark, but somehow it's not (maybe the sunburst?). I really like it!

Nice shot Sam.
Reminded me of my shop where I am posting this ;)
You should come over here to take such a shot here as well.

Gorgeous, gorgeous light, not easy light - beautifully done.

Wonderful shot, just wonderful. A perfect capture of late afternoon in November.

Does a great job of capturing the feel of this time of year. Nice shot.

That's a difficult shot technically. You did well to not have more flare. A quite interesting silhouette at what I assume is the end of the day.

Posted by Hugh Petrie at November 19, 2005 09:19 AM

This shot is absolutely impossible!

Noticing the subtleties:
1. Canadians love their Starbucks.
2. "Bike Week" is upon us.

You seem to frequently get bikes or birds in your shots somehow. :^)

I really like the imperfection of this image, the green and blue glare spots from the sun, and the overpowering glare of the sun itself. It has a lot of atmosphere, and feels very nice, and makes me feel the same as when its cold outside but the bright sun shining on your face makes it all ok.

the colors are magnificent.

Sam,

This is a beautiful picture. I love the golden glow and the silloutes. Almost looks like everyone in the picture has attained Nirvana with a halo around them!

Great frontlight!

I love your photoblog, but this one's pretty boring. The fact that it was shot towards the sun doesn't impress either. There is a flare towards the centre. Try again!

nature's bounty....
a gift from the setting sun

nice one

Incredible work, Sam, creates the impression of deathly silence and deafening noise all at once.

Makes it look like summer in Toronto, in spite of the snow we had here yesterday!

Yes its definitely the quality of light that makes this picture combined with the movement of the shoppers. I like the way the tomatoes (or peppers?) are highlighted by the light

It's me again, yeah, but the more I look at this picture the more I like it. I can write a 10 page story about this picture.
Gosh, it's wonderful.
Believ me Sam you can take incredible photos if you can spend some time in England, in particular Lake Distric will keep you going for ever. Keep up the good job mate.

Great shot. One I've tried to get but never succeeded. Did the two women on the left come up to you?

Posted by RustyJ at November 21, 2005 04:39 PM

this pic gave me a tingling-energised-"I wanna be there" feeling..

I just love this shot, Sam.

The transition from the bright sun to almost completely dark at the bottom of the picture si beautiful, the shadows are looking great
