love the flowers on the windowsill

The owner of the store was very clever. By putting the 4 anoraks on the top not only ie covers the old name on the wall as it calls for the costumers. Great composition. : )

Nice shot! In the right side there are a jacket where we read "BRASIL" wright in right way, with "S"... I'd like very much... You canadians are actually 100 x more smart than people next door.

Don't want to sound too much like a pedant, but this isn't Oxford Circus. I think it's Oxford Street. Small distinction I know..

I look at your site every day and love your work. I'm so used to seeing Toronto and wondering at how beautiful you make the city look. I'm from London so it was strange to see you depicting my home for a change!

Look that brazilian shirt! It's even with S (the brazilian way to write it).
I like the colours in your UK shoots. You are the best, Sam!

Nice details, lots of things to look at. Reminds me on one of those stores on Yonge St. in Toronto.

i wish these tall pics old fit on my screen.

I have to be honest Sam, I have no idea if there is even a photo here, all I am looking at is the girl in black with the um, very large....... the girl with the crippling back pain. wink, wink.

The other thing I notice about this picture is that the girl in the pinkish shirt in the front is probably related to bigfoot. Not because she's hairy, or has enlarged feet. She might, but I can't tell from this pic. But because like bigfoot, it looks like she is just blurry in every photo. I think that's the problem with B-Feeties (that's what I call them) is that they aren't able to take a crisp photo. In fact, I'll bet that's what lead them to live in the wild to begin with. It probably started at school picture day, and bigfoot's mom made him comb all four hundred pounds of his hair and dress all nice like for the photo, he probably even wore a piano tie. And then a week later, on the day the pictures arrive, all of the kids noticed that their class pictures are ruined because of blurry ass, oh, that's what they called him after this. So they threw trash and Ashlee Simpson cd's at ol' blurry ass until he ran out of the class crying, and when he got home, his mom said "ughhhh, eeeh Iahghhh" Now I personally don't know what she said because I don't speak B-Feet's. ( I took it in high school, but if you don't keep up with it, you lose it, you know? It's funny that the only words that stuck were the dirty ones, l;ike ungggheei. hahahaha) But I bet you she said, F them, you're a great kid, and we'll go live in the mountains where Asian tourists will try to prove we exist.

So in Summery, I like the girl with the big boobs.

Coop.

This is a great shot - I think the difference in movement between the people and building is what sets it apart for me.

Posted by Patrick at November 8, 2005 12:55 PM

i love how your pictures are always perfecty alighned. the windows at the top could make a great picture alone.

i'm lovin' it!

Posted by Traci at November 8, 2005 01:54 PM

If you didn't say that it was London, I would say New York City streets

Posted by Jnetty99 at November 8, 2005 02:42 PM

Great shot.
It conveys the activity and busy nature of the city.
The blur and the mutliple elements add to this effect.

Posted by Ahamed at November 8, 2005 02:43 PM

Ali may be right about it not being Oxford Circus but it's still a circus of color & people. Fun shot and the added cold weirdness of the windows above. Stark contrasts to say the least.

looks like a toronto street scene. cool.

Posted by PAOLO at November 8, 2005 03:54 PM

I was rather to surprised to discover this is in London. I thought it was just another Toronto shot-probably Queen Street or something...

Posted by A.R. at November 8, 2005 04:19 PM

It is Oxford Street, which is an absolute dump. Looks to be the Tottenham Court Road end. Nasty place. Avoid.

As for the Brasil thing - it's all football related stuff (real football, not the American thing). They're supposed replicas and look-alikes of team gear, so it has to be spelled right. :)

Posted by Aegir at November 8, 2005 05:13 PM

When the pic loads on my monitor i just see the motorcycle jackets and then when i scroll down I see chaos.

Posted by rosh at November 8, 2005 09:00 PM

Wow - I'm really, REALLY suprised this made your fine website. As someone from the Toronto area who loves your TO shots, who moved to London a few years ago - I was excited to see you coming over here to Oxford, London, etc. to snap some good shots.

I have to say - very dissappointed with these. This one in particular. A bit of a blur with the shutter speed but all in all a very, very ordinary, boring shot. One of your worst I'm sorry to say.

There is SOOO much London has to offer the photographer (and not the typical cheesy touristy shots) and you pick this?

C'mon Sam - you can do much better than this. Looking forward to tomorrow....

Posted by Adam at November 8, 2005 10:49 PM

I'm pretty sure this is a store in Toronto, not England. Sam must have mistakenly put the wrong caption. Bet you the photo of the Oxford circus is coming soon.

Posted by chogni at November 9, 2005 07:41 AM

You know Adam, you'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Posted by keith at November 9, 2005 11:56 AM

And no-one is smiling!!! Hustle, bustle - unfriendly city wherever it is!!

Posted by Val at November 9, 2005 12:19 PM

Compared to other countries, the UK is very American-like. Which is why, on your next trip, it is worth visiting a more strictly-European country. :-)

Posted by Ioannis at November 11, 2005 05:41 AM

I really like this shot. You did well to spot the three distinct and contrasting layers. As for it looking North American... well, I rather think that it's North America that looks rather English...

Posted by Simon C at November 11, 2005 07:12 PM

I love the motion. I like scrolling down and going from still to action. Fun shot.

Posted by Abe at November 13, 2005 12:32 PM
