Comments: burnt room

I love the light rays, perfect!

I really love the light from the holes in the roof. The green at the far end of the room with windows being tinted gives it a nice flow from Reds to Blues to Greens.

The shafts of light look almost like probing lasers here. It's the light and detail that i like this for. Nice work as usual! - [Chuks]
ps: just a thought, but would this be any good as a contrasty B&W?

Totally looks like a level from Half Life 2,

Awesome.

You rule by the way.

Hi sam,
such a great shot, I would like to have taken myself. ;)

Posted by R i c H A r D at October 28, 2005 03:42 AM

You could post images from this place until the end of the year and I wouldn't get bored, Sam! Great work!

I love this photo. The light looks like solid material. But...what is this brick table in the middle of the picture? Did someone build a kind of altar where the sunbeam marks some kind of special time of day. LOL thinking about Indiana Jones.

Posted by Lummerland at October 28, 2005 03:58 AM

Perfect. Great shot.

Posted by Mêter at October 28, 2005 04:13 AM

Fantastic! The light entering the building is so nice, it looks like theres an ovni searching for humans!!!!!!

Posted by Seat83 at October 28, 2005 05:18 AM

fantastic photo! i really like it.
Good job! :)

Posted by inocuo at October 28, 2005 05:56 AM

wow, looks like god's comin' down there...
great picture.

Freaking cool light-rays. Maybe 10 seconds was too long causing the interior to be a little too bright - but then would those spectacular rays be as good?

Posted by seriocomic at October 28, 2005 06:58 AM

After seeing your photographs, I seriously want to go into photography too O_O I don't have a digital camera yet though. Just a question I hope you don't mind, would low end digital cameras be able to get fantastic pictures such as yours? I know it won't be as detailed but I'm jst wondering if it's possible to get the colors as vibrant as yours :D Thanks!

Hi there, I've never posted before, and because I'm from Australia whenever I go online there are no coments yet and tonight is the night that I will be the first comment, heh heh :) Anyways, I LOVE this site, no matter how bad my day has been I always look forward to checking out these photos and they always make me think and smile, so thank you! :)

Another fabulous photo from that old factory. The long exposure really gave the light an extra power. Fantastica as always. :-)

Posted by nuno f at October 28, 2005 08:22 AM

I love this photo..especially the beams of light.

Posted by Geremy F at October 28, 2005 08:46 AM

I love this series!

Posted by linz at October 28, 2005 09:27 AM

nice series of this abandoned factory. the first photo you posted looks the best to me. i think the opening on the roof is too much exposed though.

Posted by Sanjin at October 28, 2005 09:31 AM

You know Sam, just because I'm stalking you, doesn't mean you have to keep breaking into my house. I'm sorry I'm poor, we can't all be rich and famous photographers, some of us are forced to live on no name beans. Thats right, I can't even afford name brand beans!!!! and cheese in a can. So please. I know it's hard, but try to think of us that are less fortunate than you.

Coop.

And P.s. Stop kicking holes in my f'ing roof just so you can have some "dramatic" lighting!!!

Posted by keith at October 28, 2005 09:37 AM

Incredible! Can we get a wallpaper please?!

Posted by rz at October 28, 2005 10:16 AM

fantastic shot!
perhaps good enough to post a link to a wallpaper size...?

Posted by masterofchaos at October 28, 2005 10:26 AM

Your pictures are amazing and quite frankly have inspired me (numerous times) to grab my camera and go out for hours shooting whatever I see. Thank you! I am trying to figure out why the light beams are at different angles. Is that sunlight?

Posted by Thorin at October 28, 2005 12:17 PM

Very nice shot.
reminds me of one of Superman comics, in which an evil alien civilisation was attacking earth using special bullets that penetrated through everything.

however, you don't expect to see such bright rays of light in such a bright room (unless they are alien bullets of course) :)

Seeing pictures of this factory (or should I say “the Keiths’ residence”) takes me back to the good old days of Whitby's Abandoned Psychiatric Hospital series. It’s good to see you have found yourself another abandoned building to photograph the hell out of. Anyway so far I’ve really enjoyed all of your factory pictures :-) More please.

Posted by shirin at October 28, 2005 12:50 PM

beautiful capture of the light coming in. All these photos you have from this warehouse or whatever are really amazing.

Posted by lisa at October 28, 2005 01:40 PM

it's so perfect! i'd like a desktop version of this. :)

Posted by Krista at October 28, 2005 02:05 PM

1600x1200 walpaper please....

Posted by Flash Gordon at October 28, 2005 02:21 PM

This is such a top location I just can't believe it. I didn't realise it was such a long exposure until someone else mentioned it. I swear if I ever, ever went anywhere near Toronto then I'm going here.

Can anyone just walk around inside?

Posted by Daaave at October 28, 2005 03:14 PM

Truly inspiring! I love all the rays of light, and theres a good few of them. Spectaluar!!

Posted by Phil at October 28, 2005 04:16 PM

Looks like some laser beams burning holes through the ceiling.

Posted by anna at October 28, 2005 04:19 PM

all of your photos taken of this factory building are perfect

Posted by kikko77 at October 28, 2005 06:31 PM

Daaave, I think that the remaining brickworks buildings are officially off-limits, but that doesn't stop most people. If you search around the net, you will find that this location is very popular with Toronto photographers.

Great photo. Light in the midst of darkness and brokeness. Very interesting.

Posted by Moussa at October 28, 2005 09:42 PM

Beautifully done. Did you have to do any post-processing on this?

Posted by JorjDotOrg at October 28, 2005 10:24 PM

Excellent shot with the light rays. Is this location open to shooting? Or do you have to "wander" in? I'm very interested in shooting in this type of location.

Posted by Mike H at October 29, 2005 12:23 AM

Absolutely wonderful. Great Job!

Posted by Kayleigh at October 29, 2005 09:27 AM

Wow - great! The light coming through the roof really lifts the picture.

This photo is amazing. Would you be able to provide a 1024x768 version of this photo? How about revealing some of your secrets on how you captured the light so beautifully :D

Thanks in advance!

Very nice shot. The lights looks absolutely amazing. Is that light filtering through the roof or is it artificial light
