Do you used here too the polarizer to obtain a sky so blu? :)

it could pretty look likes an old french farm in the normandie campaign, don't you think?

You make Oxford seem so much more beautiful that i remember it

I like how from such a distance you can see ho the plant has started to take over the house and stretches to take over the rest!

Posted by Terri Ann at October 14, 2005 10:47 AM

Oh, this is a really, really good one.

Great photo. I also use Tiffen Circular Polarizer Filter to get deep blue sky colors. I am certainly very pleased with it.
This is a great shot Sam. Love the windows.

I like how the building is covered in ivy. Also, could you possibly indicate which mode you are shooting in, along with the other info?

Posted by Jesse at October 14, 2005 11:42 AM

Daily viewer for longer than I can remember - this is also the first shot I see that shows obvious photoshopped signs.. Excellent shot otherwise!!

Posted by Andre at October 14, 2005 12:30 PM

As with all your photos, this one is alive and makes me want to just step through and be there. Great subject.

Posted by TERRY at October 14, 2005 12:40 PM

Nice shot... I like how the orange building on the left offsets the rest of the shot and contrasts with the other colors.

You sure got this one at an optimum time for texture enhancement of shadows across the face.

Oxford's Broad street seems to have a lot of worthy subject matter. I am amused by this buildings leaning to the right. At first when I saw the roof line, I thought you, like I do too often, had failed to frame the image with the horizon line level, but when I see the street level is level, I realize this is another ancient and tired, but well used British place. I hope it doesn't fall down with its leaning so hard. Bizarre.

interesting growth there, hehe. The shot makes me think of some opening in a movie or something.

Posted by lisa at October 14, 2005 04:35 PM

great photo, and ya others have mentioned it, but you have a really strong halo in the topright corner. I guess its from the technique you used to mask two RAW conversions together in photoshop. I check you site daily and have learned a lot from your forums (with regards to post processing). This is the first "flaw" i've ever seen in your photos, good job. btw i've always been jealous of how sharp your photos are :)

Posted by andrew at October 14, 2005 06:58 PM

wow. i really love this picture. but i noticed that kind of glow coming from the ivy half of the building. how did that happen?

Posted by Doreen at October 15, 2005 12:28 AM

That's crazy looking. I like how you captured it.

Posted by mari at October 15, 2005 09:27 PM

Oxford is so much cleaner than Toronto!

Posted by Eral at October 16, 2005 11:27 AM

I really don't like the way these leaves are raping this house!!
And I really don't think it's right for you Sam, to be promoting Naturography!

Coop.

Ah I know where that one is. Such an english thing.

Posted by Ioannis at October 18, 2005 08:17 AM

I walked past here at least twice a day for three years and I never thought to take a photo.

That is one of the busiest stretches of pavement in Oxford probably, and one slightly crazy thing is that all those windows belong to the study bedrooms of Trinity College students.

I do hope you went inside Balliol next door...
