Comments: fall leaves

Honestly, I love your photography. It's wonderful to see so many amazing pictures of a city I know and love.

Absolutely gorgeous! What a beautiful macro shot! Delicious! You have such a wonderful eye!

Posted by Vanessa at September 19, 2005 03:07 AM

This is one of my favourites in some time.

Fantastic shot, and it sure does tell you what is happening to the days.

Posted by RobW at September 19, 2005 03:12 AM

Nice macro. I like the colors and tones.
I might've cropped out that leaf on the bottom left, I feel as though it distracts from the focus of the image.
Good choice of shallow DOF though.

Posted by Leo at September 19, 2005 03:20 AM

Nice contrast and a good DOF.

Posted by Dutch PhotoDay at September 19, 2005 03:52 AM

that. is. hawt. the leaves look almost metallic.

Posted by Dougie at September 19, 2005 03:59 AM

As usual, wow, your photos are really breathtaking. The clarity and sharpness of the water droplets are amazing. :)

Posted by Ee at September 19, 2005 05:19 AM

Great DOF and great quality... !
nice macro!

Posted by SpydeRR at September 19, 2005 07:02 AM

beautiful. I would have cropped out the leaves in the bottom right of the shot, but the colours and clarity of the leaves and water droplets is just perfect.

Posted by owen at September 19, 2005 08:13 AM

The velvety look of the leaf is great, this shot is really nice.

Posted by Ed { tfk } at September 19, 2005 08:18 AM

Wow, this is a wonderful photo. I love the texture, the leaves almost seem artificial/plastic. Even though summer is over, fall is a great season as well, and this picture exemplifies the beauty of it!

Posted by JasOn at September 19, 2005 08:33 AM

that is amazing...it looks like a render to me *g*

Posted by Neo69 at September 19, 2005 08:40 AM

Nice image. I like how the surface of the leaf is matte not shinny. It contrasts nicely with the water droplets.

Posted by Mark at September 19, 2005 08:51 AM

The colour is brillant and the leaves don't even look real. Love your work.

Posted by Rosh at September 19, 2005 09:19 AM

Sam! Holy crap this is a really good one. Amazing textures, great depth of field. Very, very nice.

Posted by Scott Murdoch at September 19, 2005 10:22 AM

the first thing i said to myself when i saw this photo was "WOW!" the detail and color are breath taking. people in some other comments said the leaf in the bottom right corner should be cropped out... it's perfect where it is.
: )

Posted by Traci at September 19, 2005 10:22 AM

Looks like a lobster!

Great work, Sam.

Posted by Molly at September 19, 2005 10:26 AM

no offense, but it is nice to see that the film festival is over so we can get back to shots like this. I really like the shallow dof in this photo and the framing is right on. Contrary to what others are saying about cropping the bottom right leaf, that would put the main leaf right in the center and i dont think that would make for as good of a composition. So i say good choice in the cropping.

Posted by aj at September 19, 2005 10:33 AM

Awesome--beautiful image! Rain drops are a lot of fun to capture. I like the color of leaf you chose as well.

Posted by mari at September 19, 2005 11:01 AM

Absolutely crispy. Arrrr! I be not so excellent a picture-taker as yer self. Be ye a bilage rat or be ye t' scurvvy dog 't crawled out the bilage, I be ye onlooker forever. Compliments.

Posted by radman at September 19, 2005 11:33 AM

Radman - glad to see you are taking international pirate day in your stride.

To the point.....Fantastic picture, I love the DOF and the droplets. The bottom leaf is fine where it is (IMHO). Truly amazing...any chance of a desktop wallpaper?

Excellent shot Sam.

Especially well done, for a rainy day shot. :)

Posted by Chris at September 19, 2005 11:58 AM

Looks the same way a minor chord sounds. I love when seasons change.

Posted by macubu at September 19, 2005 12:05 PM

Wow. almost looks like computer generated graphics.

Posted by Ioannis at September 19, 2005 12:07 PM

Hey... wish we have red leaves here in singapore... you make me want to go to canada!

Posted by neowenyang at September 19, 2005 12:50 PM

Great colors and tones. Your pictures are outstanding - enjoy your site.

Posted by Gary at September 19, 2005 01:15 PM

i love how the leaves look with the water and the light.. it almost looks like something digitally created but it isn't. Nice work.

Posted by lisa at September 19, 2005 01:22 PM

beautiful and crisp image! I think this will be something interesting to look at a couple months into a cold winter... It really captures the essence of fall

Posted by payam at September 19, 2005 03:26 PM

i can't believe its already fall...im still clinging on to the last summer toronto days we have. it reminds me of the kfc commercial...with the girl and guy screaming coz they saw a red leaf. hehehe

great shot..its so sharp and crisp. :)

Posted by kristine at September 19, 2005 03:42 PM

Crystal clear & crisp!

The leaves look almost metallic.

Posted by manjusha at September 19, 2005 04:51 PM

oddly the tones remind me of the french slasher flick - high tension.

Posted by dusty at September 19, 2005 05:03 PM

There is an insecty/caterpillary feel to this somehow.....it is crawling towards us in a friendly way. It is a very beautiful image, Sam - thanks for showing us the otherwise-unnoticed gorgeous details of rain on leaf.

Posted by Kathy at September 19, 2005 06:02 PM

say hello to fall....

love the angle of this shot.

Posted by flying cow at September 19, 2005 06:46 PM

Someone else commented that it looks like a lobster. To me it looks like an insect - a praying mantis perhaps? It's beautiful.

I have been visiting your site daily for almost two months now. I truly enjoy your pictures. As expressed elsewhere I am also glad the film festival is over. Greetings from México.

Love the colour and the sharpness of the raindrops. Heck, I love everything in this picture, Sam. Thanks!

Splendid. I have to say Sam has inspried me to carry my camera more often with me. You never know when and where you will be for a great photo opportunity. :) I too enjoy your work.

Purdy :)

Posted by Viking054 at September 20, 2005 12:09 AM

Wow, amazing shot. Colors, DOF - beautiful take on a popular subject.

Posted by Jennifer at September 20, 2005 12:47 AM

This is the most beautiful shade of red I have seen. But then again, we don't have fall so the leaves here only turn yellow.
Nice beautiful shot

Posted by ling at September 20, 2005 03:53 AM

simply beautiful. I'm here everyday, find always lots of inspiration. great work.

Posted by patrick at September 20, 2005 09:58 AM

Beautiful colour. The water droplets really add to the shot. The lack of distractions in the background helps emphasize the red leaves.

Posted by Ed at September 20, 2005 06:16 PM

Simply incredible. It has an "illustrated" look to it.

Posted by Andy at September 20, 2005 10:30 PM

Ahh yes, nothing like a great macro shot! It looks very ALIVE! Great shot.

Posted by Julie at September 21, 2005 11:16 AM

Wow, beautiful photo. Love the DOF.

Posted by Raffi at September 21, 2005 09:33 PM

gorgeous - it looks like a many legged creature coming towards me.. the water droplets are perfect but the best thing is the shine - the light was just right for this one.

Posted by Pen at September 22, 2005 08:21 AM

Simply awesome - your site is a great ad for the 350D.

Nice, very very nice.
