If that's a skull, then there's some snot coming out of its nostril! gross! I like this, except my little quibble about it is that the ivy is too sharpened for my taste. It was the first thing I noticed when the pic loaded and bothered my eyes a bit. But ignoring that, I like the color you've captured in the building, it blends nicely with the ivy's color! I love old buildings!
Posted by Kristina at September 6, 2005 01:31 AMExcellent !
How make you so detailed shots ??? I have a Canon 350D too, but mine have not so clear outlines :-(
Posted by LeBagage at September 6, 2005 01:40 AMA precious place, enchants this photo to me.
Greetings
That's just so cool. Looks like the tree will die, however, being strangled by the ivy.
Wonderful shot!
Posted by Juinels at September 6, 2005 02:22 AMIt certainly does look like the space invader skull!
It is quite interesting in how they have constrained the growth of this.
Posted by Helen at September 6, 2005 03:55 AMcool!!!
look like a skull to me...
Usually I like the vibrant colours, but this works quite well de-saturated.
Posted by thefotokid at September 6, 2005 04:20 AMnature has a good place here, beautifull!
Posted by frédéric at September 6, 2005 04:52 AMIt's great to have a fresh eye on Oxford: keep 'em coming!
Posted by Howard at September 6, 2005 05:11 AMGreat shot.. Did you do some distortion to make it nicely parallel?
Posted by CurlyToes at September 6, 2005 05:42 AMGreat shot, its quite spooky thinking that the truck is so small to hold up all that weight.
Posted by McAWilliams at September 6, 2005 06:59 AMHow much neater would it be if only that stick out the bottom of the gree could be cut off...unfortunately this is a statement followed through by a buddly of mine about 10 years on a vine established about as long as this one.
Posted by rw at September 6, 2005 08:39 AMTo address Juinels comment about the tree probably dying because of the ivy; The "tree" is the ivy! The thickness of the base of this ivy is an indicator that it has been growing there for quite some time.

Posted by M Reza at September 6, 2005 03:15 PMI totally get what you mean about the skull..... I remember..... lol
Great use of landscapes no one would use their full potential like you.
Posted by Ali at September 6, 2005 03:55 PMIt looks as if the tree is trying to climb up the building to get out of the ground. Great photo!
Posted by Tara at September 6, 2005 04:44 PMvery cool photo. It's crazy how it's growing like that.

Posted by neda at September 7, 2005 03:36 PMSimilar question to my post on: http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/archives/photos_people/050908_1295.shtml
I've noticed with a lot of your pictures that the centre point is near the bottom of the image but the image is missing the bottom half (or third or whatever). Do you shoot these pictures straight on and then crop the bottom part?
Posted by Aaron Schmidt at September 8, 2005 01:33 AMThe building with the mask -- it's very interesting - almost stoic. It's a nice shot.
Posted by Abe at September 9, 2005 03:15 PMIt reminds ME of the Mario Face. You know, that spot in the game where you punched out the blocks in such a way as to create a very blocky resemblence of Mario.
Posted by nari at September 10, 2005 04:23 AMThe aged wall gives the photo great depth, especially with the green foliage. I've never seen this building, I should go looking for it =)
