it's great to finally see some of your lensbaby shots! clever point of focus

Posted by payam at August 24, 2005 02:18 AM

nice shot. what a great radial zooming!

Cool effect. You have managed to get the focus right around the point of action.

I have read about these lenses, but you cannot get them here (or as far as I know). Would love to try it out one day.

Soooo cool! Yep, definitely worth the lens struggle... ^_^ Thanks for that! :D

Very cool shot you took here. I like the effect of the lensbaby and how your center of focus isn't really anything specific but more like just background.

Nice street shot. I really like what the Lensbaby has done. The blur is making the picture bustling with activity.

Interesting effect, a bit like having your glasses all steamed up - when you're reduced to looking through a tiny dry area more or less in the middle of your lenses until you take the glases off and wipe them dry properly.
Also a nice time of the day captured here, with the daylight receding and the artificial lights taking over. And great colours, as usual.

Wonderful use of the lensbaby! Enough blur but not too much (sometimes you almost get seasick looking at a lensbaby-photo). Yes, I like this one.

Great insight to urban Toronto life. A nice technique here too. Looks like this was shot at 8:30pm. I like how the crowd "window shops" Looks like the man in the red shirt spotted you!

I'm trippin' out man!

I love it. Nice split between real people and the products of imagination. Back in town is right!

Posted by linz at August 24, 2005 09:33 AM

This image has great color, but is very unsettling and almost nausiating from the results produced by the lens baby. Great scene though. What's there to do in a day in Toronto besides the CN tower?

Posted by kris at August 24, 2005 10:16 AM

yep, i like this lens :D

This is a fun shot. Sometimes the random-like, not technically correct shots are the most interesting. This one is great!

I like it, it's very different from the other pictures. The feel is very modern and suitable for advertising!!

Posted by Peggy at August 24, 2005 01:36 PM

well done! I love it!

whoah, that's super funky!

Kris, check out Torontoist.com or blogto.com or nowtoronto.com for stuff to do. There's too much for any one torontonian to know about. So get as many sources as possible.

In my opinion, one of your most interesting shots!

Posted by Chris at August 24, 2005 08:09 PM

This is your best image yet. I love the way the fire hydrant is slightly blurred. Has National Geographic come calling yet? I just spent like two or three hours browsing your images...

...and I do this every day!!! Absolutely fantastic work, you have a talent beyond 99.99999% of everyone else.

Posted by Brenda at August 24, 2005 08:34 PM

I don't understand why you and so many other things are calling me to Toronto. Maybe because my Great-grandfather was from there and left his family for 3 years, looking for butter. He came home emptyhanded but with that easy humour. I have been checking your pics, and your friends, for the last 6 months. I just want to thank you. I just get what you see.

What can I say, but you do requests as well !!
Thanks Sam, appreciate the clever shot :-)

Another novel and artfully composed picture which shows that - sometimes - you're about more than just your gadgets. I don't know what a "lensbaby" is, and I don't really care; what matters is that you've used your tools to clarify your vision rather than mask your shortcomings.

This picture very much reminds me of the work of Lee Freidlander, the great American photographer who was at his most creative during the 50s/60s. Freidlander's dexterity allowed him to transform the mundane by conjoining the random and discrete artefacts and settings of every day urban life into new, almost magical, realities.

You rock!!

Nice use of blur to emphasize activity and motion.
