Comments: the line and the island

The plane streak is perfectly framed, and the island looks quite mysterious.

Lost is one of the best shows on television. I too have been anxiously awaiting the new season. I am also looking forward to Grey's Anatomy. Excellent photo.

Wow, again just stunning.

I'm posting because I wonder what that streak in the middle is - my first guess is it's a plane?

Great image!

We've only just got the first season. It's good!

amazing selection for B/W! lovely shot! like the shooting star(??) in the middle of the shot!

Posted by aashish at August 22, 2005 04:35 AM

That's honestly one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. You probably know that, but everybody needs reminding.

Posted by Anna at August 22, 2005 04:39 AM

Lucky you, here in the UK we're only up to the fourth episode of the first series. Uh, love the photo by the way. What time of day was it that you got such a mixture of cloud types?

Posted by quis at August 22, 2005 05:38 AM

boo-it-too-ful..haha..its an amazing picture and it does remind u slightly of lost doesnt it? hehe..plus the clouds looks like a bird..thou wondering what the whiteline is..a jet perhaps?

Posted by mizfaith at August 22, 2005 06:15 AM

Excellent job with the lighting! I like how the dark land separates the light water from the light part of the sky.

nice shot. but a sense of horror. wheew!

Posted by hossein daraei at August 22, 2005 08:33 AM

Beautiful shot!
Also a social comment on the invasion of technology into even the most remote and pristine landscapes.

wwwoooowwwww
i love this one................
it look like my spaceship

Posted by nicolas at August 22, 2005 01:43 PM

i see a falcon in the clouds... or some type of bird sweeping over the island

Posted by amia at August 22, 2005 02:35 PM

not much about the pic, sorry, but you really have to put up such big pictures (dimension wise)? i always have to scroll and that messes up the whole experience. i use 1600x1200 and I don't think that is that low-res.

Posted by anders at August 22, 2005 03:20 PM

awesome composition. reflections on water look amazing. sepia tones give it a nice attitude

Posted by mariel at August 22, 2005 04:09 PM

Extraordinary! The very top of the cloud from the middle left has an almost swan like image facing what almost looks like a tornado/twister and that plane flying into it to boot.

You sure get yourself into some neat places to find this stuff at the right moment. God likes you? Seems so. But many people walk through these things and don't seem to notice - it does take an eye.

There's many a day you're making me wish I were back in the city just for more unusual image oportunities.

Great stuff, Sam.

Hey! GREAT job man!

This pict is just so... wonderful!

I can't wait for the next season of LOST too!
Here in France, we just have seen the first one, but TF1 (TV channel) promised the next episodes "soon".

Keep up the work!

Posted by Calmi at August 23, 2005 05:53 AM

This is a great shot... the sky is interesting, and the water is even better. Great sense of depth.

I love this picture!

And yes, i share your passion for Lost. That's the coolest show, ever; with the exception that a lot of those actors are Canadian. ;)

Go canadaaa! (by the way, there are a lot of canadian actors nowadays!

Beautifully toned. The sky and the island silhoulette mysterious looking as someone else said. Great work!

The heck with a television show replete with unrealistically beautiful actors and actresses. I look forward to the new season of Sam.

Please keep yourself in good shape. If so, I expect my not-yet-born grandkids will be looking at the latest coffee table books of your work.

I LOVE THE SHOW LOST TOO AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT. I ALSO LOVE THE WAY THE CLOUDS, ISLAND AND WATER BLEND TOGETHER YET ARE SO DISTINCT IN THEMSLEVES.

Posted by BETHANY at October 4, 2005 04:13 PM

Very nice, this is Barry's Island at Lac Bxxxxx. Awesome clouds, must have been late.

Posted by Joe Topp at October 7, 2005 02:46 PM
