I like the gradient of the sky in this one, I'm not partial for the rocks in the foreground though.
Posted by Ed at August 15, 2005 01:27 AMIts just wow!
Everything in shades of yellow n a li'l tinge of red mixed looks so good. Just curious if this has been reworked wrt colors.
WOW...I'll save everybody the trouble...Wallpaper?
Posted by marcus at August 15, 2005 02:21 AMI live within walking distance from where you took this photo...cool!
Posted by Jon Clark at August 15, 2005 02:36 AMAhh! So peaceful, wish I were there. It must have been a nice sundown? I live in a hot valley, and can only get to the beach maybe twice a year, and I love the ocean so much.
Posted by Retha at August 15, 2005 02:47 AMi feel all warm and cozy just by looking at it..
serene moment
Would like to have seen the sky or foreground more of a "third"...but despite that small critisism the light it amazing.
Posted by rw at August 15, 2005 03:38 AMHi Sam, great picture, do you ever get tired of hearing that?! I have one question for you, what do you think is the policy of using pictures in weblogs when people's faces are visible, i visit ur weblog alot and i noticed you dont take alot of pics of people specially very very few have anybody recognizable. Is there anywhere i can get more info about this, or what do think is the answer in ur opinion? I take alot of pictures everyday and im really not sure if i can use some of them or not. for exampe look at http://www.webialist.com/ottawa/archives/001524.html and http://www.webialist.com/ottawa/archives/001503.html I would greatly appericiate ur exprience here.
Posted by Ehsan at August 15, 2005 04:55 AMnice sunset. great meaning
Posted by hossein daraei at August 15, 2005 07:23 AMSuperb picture, can you post some desktops of this please?
Posted by Steve at August 15, 2005 07:38 AMouuu prettty! i love the sky! another excelent shot sam!
Posted by Andy at August 15, 2005 08:01 AMWhile technically an excellent picture - beautifully exposed and sharpened -- compostion-wise it's really dull. The rule-of-thumb recommending avoiding horizontal lines dividing the picture in half certainly applies here. Simply aiming (or cropping) a little lower or higher would produce a marked improvement in this case.
Posted by leigh at August 15, 2005 08:07 AMWow... sooo interesting colors... WOW ! I'd like to be that good on my own.
Posted by Tousiger at August 15, 2005 08:20 AMBrilliant!
My friend once shot a similar scene and pasted an upside-down image of the light house and lowered opacity, to create its reflection in the waves. The reflecction looked pretty darn real.
This Rocks!
Posted by INoxKrow at August 15, 2005 08:21 AMThe remarkable thing about this photo is that I know the harbour pretty well and didn't recognize it. Art excels life in this case; nice job.
Posted by Kenneth Moyle at August 15, 2005 10:34 AMI don't know about others, but this is another awesome pic for a desktop wallpaper.
Posted by Carl B. Constantine at August 15, 2005 11:50 AMBrilliant colors for the sky... but the rocks look a little too reddish. Nice picture :)
Posted by dp at August 15, 2005 01:13 PMI agree. A wallpaper would be great. A really fantastic photo.
Posted by Richard O'Brien at August 15, 2005 01:46 PMi like the colours. i wouldve liked to see more sky and a little less rocks. or more water and a little less rocks. i guess i have something against the rocks. but over all, its a calming shot. great work!
Posted by Paolo at August 15, 2005 02:12 PMBeautifully warm colors. Strangely narrow too. I also enjoyed the shot two days ago of all your equipment.
Posted by Jesse at August 15, 2005 02:23 PMAmazing picture Sam.
Posted by Ayan at August 15, 2005 02:30 PMamazing shot! it's so warm and soothing and the balance between the water and the sky and rocks is just great!
you really are a master of this form of art.
Posted by teo at August 15, 2005 02:40 PMya... its damn nice... but the center line of horizon splitting the image bother me a little bit :/
Posted by Rafa Brasil at August 15, 2005 03:09 PMdesktop wallpaper, please. :).
Posted by eric at August 15, 2005 04:05 PMAll it needs is the "Wish you were here" text, and it's a postcard!
Lovely colors, great job, although I would agree with with first person about the forground rocks, cest la vie.
Posted by Lorin Halpert at August 15, 2005 04:14 PManother stunner. great work.
Posted by KT at August 15, 2005 07:26 PMnice pic.... i love how you exposed for the sky and the rock. great colours.
Posted by sam at August 15, 2005 07:32 PMAwesome shot. Love the gradient and the composition.
Posted by James at August 15, 2005 08:00 PMI actually rather like the placement of the horizon in this picture.
Posted by martha at August 15, 2005 08:57 PMGood one!
But I'm comming to the conclusion that the Canon produces an overbalance red/blue which is extreme compared to well balanced natural Kodak film. Just one of the things of the digital revolution.
Posted by Hugh at August 15, 2005 09:03 PMGorgeous!!!
I want a wallpaper!!
Nice.
Almost surreal.
Posted by kat at August 15, 2005 09:26 PMWhat beautiful colors. I like the texture in the water and the rocks in the foreground.
Posted by Alicia at August 16, 2005 08:30 PMWhat a great picture. It's almost what one would expect to see in a calender.
Posted by Addison Todd at August 17, 2005 09:50 PMMy home town ... I feel proud. :)
Posted by Aaron at August 18, 2005 01:32 AMwallpaper please! its gorgeous..
Posted by stephanie at August 21, 2005 06:33 PMThe rich, red lighthouse in the background completes the shot for me. I like the rich colors throughout the foto as well.
Posted by Abe at August 24, 2005 01:46 PMAbsolutely love this shot! Gorgeous!
Posted by Julie at August 30, 2005 09:49 AMNice pink hues. by the way, I thought that lighthouse was the one that was near downtown Oakville, but I checked the pix I took and to my surprise it's not. However they're similar in looks.
Posted by Natalie at September 21, 2005 06:01 PMYet another shot that should be a wallpaper.
