Posted by drfloyd at July 12, 2005 05:01 AMHi Sam, no birds in the sky this time round?
Cool blue color ;-))
Posted by Rahul at July 12, 2005 07:28 AMI love the saturation of colours in this image, I think I would have liked to see a little detail in the shadow area (but I know this monitor is a little dark) Any way, a nice image!
Posted by Neil at July 12, 2005 07:44 AMLovely.
Posted by A. at July 12, 2005 08:14 AMBeautiful completmentary colors. Some medium-heavy PP, correct? The thin cloud leads your eye to the windows, and then the repetitive pattern of the columns. Nice!
Borken?!
Posted by Hans at July 12, 2005 08:54 AMWe really like how you capture different parts of the city. It's cool when you live in Toronto and instantly recognize and change your perspective of a place. We are new at photoblogging and were inspired to start by this site.
Congrats on the noteworthy for PhotoFriday :)
Posted by istoica at July 12, 2005 09:03 AMI like this, but I'm a big fan of minimalistic photos. Nice light. I guess you really can't do anything about it, but the structures on top of the building (?) are distracting from the columns. But what can you do...
Posted by Robert at July 12, 2005 09:38 AMWhat a great Face! And the colour saturation is astounding. My photographer daughter introduced me to your site about a month ago, and your pix amaze me every day!! Consider adding this one to:

Nice shot. I have been tempted to do a "silo" project actually. There is a really cool one in a town close by me that a few guys actually live in now. It has been converted into a living space. I was shocked when I was taking pictures of it and a guy came out with his dog.
Posted by Caleb at July 12, 2005 09:43 AMSam, you are an ambassador to this city! Thank you for sharing your insight through your photography. Congratulations on your recognition and awards. I very much admire what you do! I hope many great things come your way!

Posted by Peter at July 12, 2005 09:48 AMBeautiful colors!
I am beginning to think that Toronto must be EXTREMELY sunny, or that you are engaging in some touch-up work to the colors through PhotoShop or some such program.
I think the latter is most likely as I believe Toronto is similar to my state of Michigan where there are many (perhaps mostly) grey, overcast days.
Either way, the photo is striking and beautiful.

Wonderful! The building almost looks like a face. Cool.
Posted by Darren at July 12, 2005 10:28 AM"here - all we have here is sky
all the sky is is blue
all that blue is is one more colour now"
your today's photo reminded me of that song
I've spent my whole life in Toronto and seem to remember having sunny days more often than not. That might be selective memory. But I lived in London, UK a while and definitely noticed the absensce of the scorching Toronto sun.

Posted by nicolas at July 12, 2005 12:38 PMnice picture, too bad it's a little blurry
Posted by Tony at July 12, 2005 12:52 PMI like the color of the sky and the soft clouds. The lighting and color of the silos is very warm and rich.
Posted by Abe at July 12, 2005 01:25 PMI love this site. You've got me hooked. I check it every day. I think I actually passed you the other day along the bike trail. I saw a dude with a camera and a bike there anyway, he may have been you.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Dave
I wouldn't mind seeing pictures from inside the silos or upclose :)
Posted by Damian at July 12, 2005 03:56 PMTo Rodentia157, all other non-Torontonians,
Relative to a lot of places, Toronto is sunny. In particular, in the last few weeks we've had almost no rain... a bit of a drought. Having visited Michigan quite a few times, the thing that struck me is how gray it is over there... So no, Toronto is not like Michigan --at least weather wise (and I'm grateful for that:).
The only thing I don't understand is why people find it strange that Toronto is sunny and hot in the summer.
But on the topic of photoblogging, I have to say... I've been inspired to bring out my camera and start to see the world differently. So thank you Sam
Posted by Selam at July 12, 2005 05:03 PMI like the colour, composition and the fact that, despite its broken windows, the building seems happy as it basks in the sun. Lovely airy bits of clouds, too!
Thanks, Sam!
Posted by Kathy at July 12, 2005 05:22 PMGreat composition, great light.
