Comments: canada day - beaches

Really original approach here. I love the sense of immenseness...

Those are awesome. The second one is brilliant. Perfect timing. The shimmer on the water is fantastic. The image seems a little grainy though.

It looks like you had a great Canada day. The fireworks from the beach look great. The sand and surf add a new perspective to an otherwise usual shot.

I'm in San Francisco, and it looks like we will be plagued with fog yet again for fireworks. I'll bring my camera, and hope for the best & expect the worst (the usual).

Wonderful, with the long exposure :p !!

Fireworks always look great on (well-taken) photos. And I like the ghost-figures of moving people in the first shot. Looks a bit like the present generation of people mixed with the ghosts of past generations, which seems kind of appropriate if you celebrate the past and present of your nation as you probably do on Canada Day. Anyway, it must have been fun being there on the beaches that night.

The first photo is my favourite one; the sky is just the right hue of blue, isn't too dark or too light, and I think it actually enhances the luminocity (Is that a word? I'm not sure) of the fireworks more than the second one. I also like the shadows of where the people were and obviously have since moved. I'm no photo expert, but I'm guessing this has something to do with 'long exposures'? Either way, excellent photo.

i just love fireworks! these look great, especially the second one where you dont really notice if the people are blurred or not due to the long exposure!

Very nice photos!!

Sam, fantatic shots and I notice you got yourself a Canon 17-40mm f.4 lens. The colors are stunning. I think this lens may be in my future...

I love the way you've managed to capture the light from the fireworks and the dusky sky. It looks like a great time was had by all.

good lens!

What is Canada day about? I particularly like the top shot. Looking at the people on the beach is interesting. Some in focus some appear like ghosts. The light on the water in the bottom shot is cool too.

Hey Sam! Excellent photos, especially the second one! Thanks!

I saw the beginning of the fireworks at Mel LastMan Square last nite and I drove downtown and caught literrally the last 5 seconds of the fireworks by Harbour Front. Even the Go train stopped for the riders to see the fireworks. The beaches feel nice too but does not show the metropolitan side of T.O.

Really nice fireworks shots. Seems like theres a lot of ghosts on the beaches! ;)

I like the second snap better. The darker sky brings out the color of the firework. The reflection on the water is great too!

excellent

We were on the ferry heading home when the first Harbourfront firework went off, but didn't catch the rest of the show. These are gorgeous - vivid and vibrant. Thanks for capturing this display so beautifully (yay Canada Day!).

Excelent. I saw some other in a forum take some similar shots, but your's are by far superior.

i love the clarity of the fireworks - especially when it first shot up...those single spirals of light. Just beautiful.
thanks for capturing these hopeful images!

My grandpa called me from Calgary on Canada Day!
HAPPY CANADA DAY!
I didn't even know, haha, I'm a disgrace to the Canada culture. I really love these 2 pictures, I love how you dragged the fireworks, they look glamerous like shooting stars.

Nice Sam :)

Neat long exposures. I like the contrast between the 2 photos as well. Fun shots.
