Hi there, I look at your site most days and really enjoy it. I live on the southern coast of Australia, and I'm curious when you took this shot, because our imported desiduous trees have lost there leaves and it is the beginning of winter here, why does the trees in your photo have no new leaves yet. I thought it would be spring there now and they would have there new growth. Sue

nice compostition.i presume the shadow on the left is u?

Posted by aashish at June 9, 2005 02:53 AM

it may not be what you meant but i strangely like the contrast and identicallity between the shiny window at the top left and your shadow at the right buttom. they are geometrically identical in the composition/frame and photographically in contrast (light and shadow) while both almost the same size (in the frame).
ps. is it trinity or tirinity, just wondering...

this is very nice, especially the shadow. looks like a university campus.

More shadows like that, it's new and refreshing, very unique! Lots of color to it too, if you can make another shot that focuses on this (with the same hues), that would be fantastic!

Nice shot but theres too much glare/brightness in many areas. Moooore of this neat "ghost" shadowing technique!

i love the color, and the reflection of the sun in the far window, and all the birds, and your shadow, and everything about this shot. nice capture.

Were these two pictures taken at the same time, or do you always get that fantastic light quality in Toronto?

Posted by David Patrick at June 9, 2005 04:31 AM

Nice colours, i like how you can see your shadow in the picture too.

the photographs are great. came across them by accident...searching for imagery...(in literature) but of course found that the pictures posted were really poems! lovely. missed them during the last few days.

Estupenda toma.

Me gusta esa sutil sombra del fotógrafo sobre el cesped.

Enhorabuena!

I have just blogrolled you! What a fantastic photoblog - I just love Toronto and and love this site! I discovered some Island shots while perusing. Are you an Islander? If yes, or if you just like the Islands, please check out my site.

You got there at just the right time for the sun. Awesome shot Sam.

Dont like it. The bench, which is the center of attention, is overexposed. Needs more detail

Saw your profile in the Toronto Star. Came to the site. Love the imagery.

We'll Sam, I love the shot, the composition is excellent and the lighting is superb.
I would rather not have you in the bottom left corner as a shadow, (major pet peeve of mine) the viewers eye is drawn to it. I find it takes away from other foreground points of interest and background.
I bet this would be a nice fall photo with the golden leaves.
I love your site, and your wide variety of subject matter.
Keep em coming!

I was in that park the other evening and there was a noticeable absence of seagulls!

And Sue from Australia, our leaves are out in all their glory and it is about 28C here. This shot must have been from about a month and a half ago or so.

I like the tension between Sam's shadow and the glare of light on the upper right......it's like the light jumped out and left a hole behind.

You give us de-light, Sam! Thanks!

okay ... I'm confused ... the green grass says it's spring but the absence of leaves and the color hue leads me to believe it is fall '-)

Hey Sam, someone asked a great question: Why no leaves on the trees?

Posted by rene at June 10, 2005 04:39 PM

Cool! That's my building! I live right below where that bit of sun is reflecting into the lens :)

Great pic -- I'm going to send it to all my friends abroad so they can see how pretty the 416 is.
