Here's an idea for a series of photos that you could post over the course of a week: "Bits of the Human Body that Look Gross Up Close"! :)

Posted by Nick at May 28, 2005 04:12 AM

amazing!!!!!!!!!

Posted by odilia at May 28, 2005 04:33 AM

Wow! I love it.
I love taking photos using Macro but never anything like this.

wow, great eye colors....

but maybe you have to sleep for a while...

Posted by nicolas at May 28, 2005 04:48 AM

I was trying to do a very similar shot the other day, and thinking how much easier a swivelling LCD would make things!

Posted by Aegir at May 28, 2005 04:48 AM

That is really cool.... if you stare at the pupil long enough it starts getting bigger.

Posted by connie at May 28, 2005 06:10 AM

creepy! love the detail in the actual eye...

Posted by mat at May 28, 2005 06:25 AM

Beautiful.

Posted by Denis at May 28, 2005 06:39 AM

Wow, that is a great shot. Scary but great! Keep up the good work

Posted by Greg Bains at May 28, 2005 07:43 AM

incredible detail!!

Posted by oewn at May 28, 2005 08:13 AM

wow! love the freaked out look and the amazing detail in the eye...pretty sweet!

Posted by Andy at May 28, 2005 08:16 AM

Is that the very eye that spots the images that we all enjoy on a daily basis?
I keep going back to today's shot thinking that, if that is the eye with the talent, it must show something very special. I have come to the conclusion that, while this is a perfectly good eye, it must be the other one that has that special ability we all try for. Am I right?
Anyway, another great shot, Sam!

Posted by Ron at May 28, 2005 08:27 AM

whoa thats great. why can i never take a decent macro shot with my A75?

Posted by jesse at May 28, 2005 09:24 AM

That's scary!
Soon, we'll all be pictured like that when biometric scanners become commonplace.
A view of "things to come."

pretty amazing.

i have a friend who is down right ornery when discussing the virtues of film over digital.

it’s as if he had quit smoking and he’s dogging someone else to quit who does smoke.

you know the kind im talking about.

well... look at this shot. and with a p&s no less.

innnnn cred i ble!

Posted by bryanj at May 28, 2005 10:10 AM

:O! there's a hole in your eye!

the detail is amazing.

Posted by ecila at May 28, 2005 10:33 AM

I like the way it emphasizes colors in the eye that you might not otherwise notice.

Posted by Jen at May 28, 2005 10:36 AM

my goodness. this gave me a scare. is this your eye?

Posted by bleah8 at May 28, 2005 10:46 AM

Very interesting website - i really enjoy looking at the pictures you post each day. For the eye in this one, did you do anything with the pupil area in photoshop or another program to make it have the appearance it does? Very interesting picture. You don't need to actually post this if you don't want to.

Posted by Mitchell at May 28, 2005 11:40 AM

Woah, you look like you just turned to the dark side or something.

Very cool.

Posted by Rob at May 28, 2005 12:03 PM

freaky cool

Posted by lalalaaaaa at May 28, 2005 12:14 PM

Sam....
I am new to this site but will be back frequently - to be sure. I was at CONTACT yesterday and have to admit, that your exhibit was one of the most memorable that I saw. I commented to my friend that I really loved your perspective. Your images resonate with me and succeeded in knocking me out of a funk! Thank you for that. Coincidentally, someone introduced me to your 'daily dose' just last weekend but I did not write down the addy. It tweaked with me last night as I looked through the business cards I picked up at the CONTACT show that this was one-in-the-same site. It's tres cool. Thank you for everything.
Susan

that is amazing, those macro capabilities are great. the color and texture is unbeleiveable. are the colors in the eye real? if so thats pretty freaky

Posted by /\/\J at May 28, 2005 12:54 PM

This picture rocks!
The inside of your eye looks like a crater (?caldera?)! And the really thin red veins look awesome in the white back! The coulers are great! Everything looks so clear!
Very nice!

Posted by Flow at May 28, 2005 12:59 PM

woah!
too bad you can't see your reflection in the eye, sam - a la M.C. Escher.

Posted by allan lissner at May 28, 2005 01:12 PM

WOW, stunningly creepy. Amazing detail for a point and shoot, eh? One of your best.

Posted by Raffi at May 28, 2005 01:50 PM

So much clarity in your pictures! I'm not an aspiring photographer, but if I was, you'd be my idol. Your camera is fantastic at picking up such tiny details, for example, the ridges of your cornea around your pupil.

Amazing photography, and I'm a Toronto (Mississauga) resident myself.

Keep up the good work!

Posted by Rob at May 28, 2005 02:27 PM

Whose eye is this one? Really nice picture.

Posted by Lucas Engel at May 28, 2005 02:32 PM

very Nice , really you take this with A95 ?!!

Posted by payam at May 28, 2005 03:42 PM

is that your eye?

Posted by Huy at May 28, 2005 03:54 PM

Great! I love this subject and you made incredible "eye macro". Amazing to see all those details so sharp!

Posted by ula at May 28, 2005 05:43 PM

Besides the 10x optical zoom and the Image Stabilizer, I think the Canon Powershot A95 ousts the Powershot S1 is in every other aspect! :\ *sigh*

Posted by Ben at May 28, 2005 06:21 PM

This looks like a ploy to obtain some free iridology advice. ;^)

If I had a camera with a swivel LCD, I'd be disappointed if all my pictures came out like this. :^D

Posted by Kevin at May 28, 2005 06:56 PM

Your identity for the future technology now is lost!...everybody can now scan your eye and use it to get access to your personal information!

Posted by Reza at May 29, 2005 12:58 AM

Wow, your eye is also totally burned out. Guess I'm not longer unique. Great job on the focus.

Posted by Lorin Halpert at May 29, 2005 01:16 AM

I keep going back to admire the beautiful painting that is your iris and how wonderfully graceful eyelashes are! Thanks to whoever invented the macro lens, and thanks, Sam!

Has your exhibition been extended? I hope so!

Posted by Kathy at May 29, 2005 02:19 AM

The camera's vision of you through the viewfinder

Man, this photo is nothing short of amazing. I'd love to see the full quality shot.

Posted by Paul Zulauf at May 30, 2005 02:58 PM

I am amazed at the detail in this shot - looks more like 16 megepixels and not 5. Wow!

Posted by abe at May 31, 2005 12:26 AM

Wow, thats a sharp macro, amazing detail in the eye and surrounding hairs, eyes are gross up close though really :-)

If you stare at your pupil for a bit, it seems to dialate.

Posted by D at June 11, 2005 11:50 AM

Hello all :-)

Posted by Mark at June 14, 2005 09:27 PM

Ha! Good to know I'm not the only one who finds that a swiveling screen (I use a Coolpix 5700) is useful for taking pics of the eye. Spent quite a while doing that one day and had fun!

Posted by Tracey at June 22, 2005 12:19 PM

This is an akward close up... but oh, my! you get lost in the eye!

Posted by B Gutierrez at July 10, 2005 02:10 PM

Alex! - Alex! - I loved Stanley Kubrick!

Posted by Tommy D at September 19, 2005 11:21 PM

I don't know nothing about photografy, but it would look cool if you took that thing called lensbaby 2.0 and just focus on the internal part of the eye. just in case im 14 years old boy, just a comment
