Great contrast between the reds and yellows. Even the bike is red and yellow...haha
Is that a dog? very funny!
Great shot, Sam!
Posted by Ryan Rahn at May 8, 2005 02:42 AMan awesome range of colors!

There is so much 'toronto' within this one photograph.
the circle bike rack, the poster pasted on the
side of the green postal relay box, the duke
itself and the red yellow of the duke's wall
with the red yellow of the chained bike,
even the cracked curb of the sidewalk.
vintage toronto at its very best.
dope shot!
la couleur du velo associée à celle de la façade.Bonne idée mais le cadre est raté.
vivement demain !
Great orange wall! In harmony with the red and brown ... : )
Posted by Tice at May 8, 2005 06:59 AMWonderful photo but my comment is non-aesthetic. My wife and I grabbed something to eat here on our last trip to Toronto so it was great to see it again.
Posted by K at May 8, 2005 08:21 AMThe way the sun is lighting the building gives this picture a two dimensional effect- like a stage prop- a most odd (read, interesting), effect. The seated patrons and passersby, a human tableau, somehow 'staged' as though for a theatrical show's backdrop, waiting the 'stars' entrance from left or right, perhaps? Fascinating shot, caught at an interesting point in time. Great, rich colours too!
Posted by Ian Johnston at May 8, 2005 09:16 AMit seeems like no one wants to be the subject of this pic.... May be that piece of scrap paper on the sewage cover.
Posted by Boreo at May 8, 2005 10:29 AMHi Sam!
'Love the clarity of the picture, as well as the color composition: wall/flowers & bike.
Canada in general, Toronto in particular is on our must-see list (hopefully this Summer).
Posted by Oliver at May 8, 2005 10:44 AMi really enjoy this picture a lot.
you're a fantastic photographer.
i'm constantly showing people
your pictures.
brilliant.
so, basically
i just wanted you to know
how happy you make me.
thank you
thank you.
Posted by Kari at May 8, 2005 11:45 AMGreat colors and lighting. Wonderful detail and shadows/contrasts. This is a very soothing shot.
Posted by Abe Savona at May 8, 2005 01:00 PMHey Sam, you actually ventured out of downtown!!
That must have been a dizzying experience for you. Actually anything north of Yonge & Eg is out of town, as far as I'm concerned. Cheers,
hey, that is my newfi-mixed dog...all the way from montana, USA to toronto canada?? i like the yellow and reds...again these colors make me hungry as they have before in your other yellow/red photos (that mcdonald's marketing strategy must be true!) but it looks much more appealing at the Duke instead. looks like the beer would taste real good here.
thanks for your consistent dose of pleasing daily imagery, sam~
Posted by dogstone at May 8, 2005 02:01 PMOooh thats a big furry dog there.
Posted by Raffi at May 8, 2005 02:39 PMnice the red strip...it gives something special to the pic...

Posted by .:pvav.photoblog:. at May 8, 2005 05:05 PMWow, great color and light in this one! I think I like the left half the most. :)
Posted by franz at May 8, 2005 06:16 PMBeautiful- I've been enjoying your pictures for two weeks now. Thank you for taking the time every day to post one. My favourites are always ones such as this, with people simply going about their day. Makes me so proud to live in TO.
Posted by Rach at May 8, 2005 06:40 PMSo....another bike picture??
Posted by Nathan at May 9, 2005 12:25 AMthe inclusion of the yellow apartments, THAT is what makes this photo for me. It totally completes this.
Posted by Erik V. Pohovich at May 9, 2005 12:59 AM"...many weeks of cloud and rain..." now, now, Sam - methinks thou dost forget the very dry April we had, up until the last week of it. But yes, it has been a little chilly, and these warm, sunny May days are a little slice of heaven!
Nice shot though - yay for patio weather and big hairy dogs!
Posted by Kathy at May 9, 2005 02:08 AMI love how the yellow balances as well as unifies this photo... the wall, the daffodils and the bike not only play off of eachother, but they make the red almost glow.
And... I live near there! Not that it really matters. It's just exciting is all. :)
Keep up the good work!
Posted by Duckie at May 9, 2005 03:03 PMNice bike, do you ride it through "North Shore" Vancouver?
