Comments: six three windows and stairs shadow

Good eye, clever title. I wonder what the bottom floor is now... A warehouse, probably.

Beautiful contrast between the shadows, the lights and the red bricks. Stunning, as always =)

Sam, I find it truly remarkable how many of the same things we are involved in, and exactly the same spots we shot at sometimes. I was a marketing volunteer for contact, and going to school at ryerson i have a number of similar location shots. The 401 richmond gallery is a great space which i've been to a number of times for various shows, hopefully i'll get to drop by and see yours. I managed to catch your 3 photos at the publicity event @ toronto free. great work.

reminds me of an older picture you had with the shadows, cool symmetry.

Good shot with the shadows on the wall giving the repeated diagonals. Good colour too.

GOD!

I like these shadow shots. You've done a couple of good ones... The last one I remember is of a similar stairwell with a couch under it? Good stuff.

Better than the other four.

this one is nice! IMHO definitely better than the previous ones(recently posted)..well they say beauty is subjective. diff ppl hav diff views..

i really like how you captured something simple, like a warehouse, and made it look so geometrical and abstract, in a way...

i think it's great when people find beauty in the ordinary : )

I really like the colors of this picture and the texture created on the wall by the stairs gives this picture a very different but nice look. Nice work.

YYZ TOR (29 Apr 05), YYZ PAR (today) and PAR YYZ (source: www.contactphoto.com). Sam, care to explain the name? :-)

The photo again is so characteristic of your shots. Nice.

I have returned several times today just to enjoy those linear shadows on the warm red bricks - beauteous! You were there at exactly the right time of day.

Thanks for noticing them, recording them and sharing them, Sam!

But I do feel sorry for whomever has to exist in a room of bricked-up windows!

My place of work has this exact same thing. A couple of filled in windows and several original windows still there. I have looked at the shadows from our fire escape and the sun never hits from the right direction to get the cool shadows like this.

Posted by Tobin Rogers at May 4, 2005 08:08 PM

Wow! Thats amazing, I like these sand-tone and red colors. But the shadows make this one a masterpiece.

Posted by John at May 4, 2005 08:16 PM

Wow! Those shadows almost look painted on there. It's almost on the verge of being too sharp.

Posted by Fauxtog at May 5, 2005 12:30 AM

WOW. This is wonderful. I love the shadows, criss-crossing lines and the bricks covering up the old windows. It's almost a mirror-like effect below the real windows. Nice feel. Regards from Vienna, -T

i know i'm a bit late but this is fabulous :)

Posted by Midge at May 6, 2005 04:03 PM

Wow, those shadoes are crisp. I don't think the sun gets high enough yet in Minneapolis for me to catch photos like this!

Posted by Jordan at May 7, 2005 02:02 PM

I really love abstract photographs and this is a really good example of one. I really like the shadow and the colour of the bricks.
