Lovely pic. I like the luminious windows and the red signs in them, along with the red bag. Very interesting composition!

Maybe this is just American paranoia, but that's a little freaky...

Cool shot though.

Rumour that you have an exhibit at that Toronto Contact Photo Festival? Hope it's true.

duh...if your bag is prone to wander.

I think those metal gratings lead to the sewers. During the winter the air coming off the sewers is a few degrees warmer than the outside air so I often see homeless people camped out on top of those gratings. Perhaps this sleeping bag is related...

The thing I like about this picture is the women on the sidewalk are facing forward and walking normally and the two guys are checking out the model in the window pretty intently...gotta love guys!
Love the pictures, I look forward to them everyday! Thanks

simple but nice

In the U.S., this would result in the immediate closure of the street and deployment of the bomb squad.

My first thought was that it must belong to a homeless person, though!

Great photo - the stillness of the bag contrasts nicely with the motion of the car and pedestrians - just like a homeless person seems "stalled" as life speeds past. Very evocative.

I wonder what's in it. Did you take a peek?

Posted by Matt at April 18, 2005 02:44 PM

Posted by Raffi at April 18, 2005 03:34 PM

From Spain

Here, in Spain, a lonely bag at the street si the symbol of the terror since 3/11/2004 . Your photo give a new (and better) vision to this theme.

Sorry, my english is awful. Very good photos. Congratulations!!

I just wanted to tell you that you do a great job on the pics you take. It has inspired me to start taking more photos with my own camera, but I can't really compare them to yours :-P

Keep up the good work

In the United States, a bag like that would have the bomb squad out and the nations intelligence services declaring a state of emergency. A terrorist plot under ever rock (and red bag)!

ur pic is retarded!

Posted by bobby joe at April 18, 2005 06:47 PM

I would like the framing a bit more to the right. You may not need to move. Just turn to the right for like 11.5 degress.

Sam--This is an interesting moment, but really not worthy of posting on your now extremely popular photoblog. I realize that you are recording (to a certain extent) the city life of Toronto and that it is an extra burden to post something every day, but you have also established for yourself a precedent of some very fine photography--ie, the skyscraper photo from the other day--and sometimes it feels as though your posts are haphazard and even lazy. Be careful!

thematics? is that the word? love the balance between the bag and the rest of the world.

I just found your site, and have been enjoying all your photos. I really feel a story goes with almost every picture. Keep em coming!
