Comments: manhole cover, bird and bench

Many thanks. The relative scales of the manhole, bird, and picnic table keep yanking me back for a second look.

Posted by eden at April 11, 2005 10:48 AM

i've been critical of the images lately but this is a nice image. good light. good composition. nice textures, and well done in the sepia tone.

Posted by ez e at April 11, 2005 10:50 AM

great shot! although i feel the triangle on the upper left is a bit distracting, but maybe it works for the composition? still, loving your work!

Posted by jayjay at April 11, 2005 11:16 AM

Reminds me Felini's La Dolce Vita or other films. Awsome!

Posted by SliceOfLife at April 11, 2005 11:34 AM

i think everyone has already said it.
the placement and light and texture of this shot are amazing. great job.

Posted by blu at April 11, 2005 11:56 AM

The simplicity of this photo is amazing, hence it is simply amazing. Very well done.

Posted by Brent at April 11, 2005 12:11 PM

Beautiful picture. I find the top left triangle a little distracting, but I like this one a lot.

Posted by asa at April 11, 2005 01:25 PM

simplicity of arrangement of objects meets the abstract eye and yet on a deeper perceptive level there is a heaviness for me in my own current Life experiences felt in the time of day, light, shadow and presence of myself (yes, even through this glass computer screen) in the image. thank you, Sam!

Posted by dogstone at April 11, 2005 01:27 PM

Absolutely fantastic!!! The light is... I don't know... Thanks for this sight. Beijos

Posted by Catarina at April 11, 2005 02:28 PM

I like the texture, the light, the composition, and most of all the silence. I could easily sit there for hours.

Posted by Telli at April 11, 2005 02:33 PM

Sam, great Pattern and shadows, wonderful shot

Posted by Reza at April 11, 2005 02:35 PM

Awsome. I love the "three objects" theme. The sepia sort of tint gives it a nice touch as well.

Posted by Raffi at April 11, 2005 03:27 PM

I enjoy the simplistic beauty in this one. It makes me feel good. Best not to criticize.

Thanks

I love the sepia tone, the warm lighting, the texture.... and the signature BIRD!

Posted by Kat at April 11, 2005 04:46 PM

I love simple shots like this. I'm not saying it was an "easy shot to take". You know what I mean. Nice job.

Posted by Matt at April 11, 2005 06:30 PM

i absolutely love it!!! are those original tones??

Posted by mariel at April 11, 2005 07:08 PM

Whats really pleasing about this , is the triangular arrangement of objects ( manhole cover + picnic table + bird ) - is repeated in the triangular black shadow in the upper left . Also the balance and visual flow of the piece is quite well done . Your eye hits the man hole cover then bird, then picnic table , then black triangle ----- Well Done ~!

I have lurked for over a year on your site and 'cause today is my b-day I have to tell you I love your work, Sam. The geometry and tone in this shot is superb. The gull brings life to the man-made attempt to cover the earth with our stuff. And you capture it beautifully. Oh, TO! Your work is a true gift. Thanks.
