Great site... I just came across this photoblog while randomly searching blogs and saw some1's link to this site. I've only been coming for the past week and agree that you deserve all your accolades. You are a great photographer. I used to live in TO only to finish up my uni in the UK and your pictures bring me a taste of home all the way here. I love the way you are able to bring mundane stuff to life. The amazing way you photographed the Global Village Backpackers on Spadina. It looks so much nicer in your pictures than I remember it! Keep up the good work!

Posted by Christopher Kueh at March 31, 2005 08:31 AM

What impresses me is the difficulty in finding the stitching... it'd be interesting to end up with half a person stitched. ;)

Posted by Matt at March 31, 2005 08:33 AM

congrats! you deserve it.

Posted by blu at March 31, 2005 08:48 AM

Congratulations!! I have enjoyed studying your "eye" for a photograph in the everyday things and was happy to vote for you in the photobloggies. While you give credit to those who voted for you, it really is YOU that does the work and gives the rest of us inspiration to improve our own work. So, THANK YOU!!

Posted by Bob Foss at March 31, 2005 08:50 AM

Yes, you deserve this award. Congratulations.

I've only followed your blog for a few weeks, but you have quality here. And also, you are helpful to others through your forum and your descriptions of your PhotoShop processing.

Thank you.

Well this picture documents how Americanized our Eaton's Centre(ahem should have I said Sears Center?) become with 'our' Starbucks, Tristan America, Sawaroswski. Too bad you didn't catch the water when it was in highest position though (ahem I know it is impossible).

Posted by yatko at March 31, 2005 09:00 AM

Well-deserved! Your photos bring joy to my days at work and display a wonderful appreciation of our city. Please keep it up. Incidentally, this is a cool shot of Eaton Centre.

I see lot of noise, specialy on the ads in the center of the picture.

Posted by mrflat at March 31, 2005 01:45 PM

No surprise here Sam! You are the best!! Congratulations!!!

Posted by Gemma at March 31, 2005 02:07 PM

CONGRATULATIONS! You deserve them. Your photoblog is truely my daily dose of imagary. Keep up the great job.

Posted by Ninjaess at March 31, 2005 02:32 PM

I am now following your site since chromasia listed the winers and the categories. i will have to trawl your archive to bring myself up to speed.

I am so used to the usual format of photoblogs that initially I disliked the potential blandness of this image because they usually fit a screen and the top seemed of little interest. only once I had scrolled down did i realise the grand scale of it.

very well stitched. difficult or does the program do the work?

are you male or female, just for perspective.

cheers

Posted by tobias at March 31, 2005 02:39 PM

Congrats! You really deserved it :)

Posted by Khorshid Khanoom at March 31, 2005 03:50 PM

Congratulations!

I just figured out how to stitch photos with my camera's software and I am having a great time playing with it. I like the vertical shots much better and this one is great!

Posted by kristal at March 31, 2005 03:53 PM

*WOW!* three?? hehe well i have to say that I voted for you xD

but yea, awesome shot :D
It would be great if you started on oneside took three large shots, then looked the other direction and took 3 large shots, and put those two large images together xDD hah i hope you understood that.

Posted by will at March 31, 2005 07:45 PM

The photo is beautiful, very well done. I do prefer the one in Scotia Place more, but this is still very well done. These images with people subject doing.. well, what people do is very interesting to look at. Everyone in their own little world... at once.

congrats. first time commenting here but a regular visitor. I voted for you ya kno.

Posted by khotta at April 1, 2005 06:20 PM

Hey, congrats and all... but it's completely moronic to put a 360k 750x2610 pixel photograph on the front page of your photo blog. Sorry for the harshness, it's a nice photo and all, but not nearly nice enough to merit the bandwidth.

Posted by Jeff at April 1, 2005 11:31 PM

I've been working long hours and so I don't remember if I've commented on this pic (would take about a day to read through here to see if I have) so .... thanks, once again, for another incredible photo-stitched shot. You really put together something incredible each and every day, and I and many I know here in Phoenix appreciate all of your efforts. And if I didn't already congradulate you on your photobloggies victories - I congradulate you now! So deserved, Sam. You inspire me and produce new ideas in me daily.

Posted by Abe at April 2, 2005 12:43 AM

Your photos inspire me to love this city more and more each day. What a great tribute to Toronto and our neighbourhood. I recognize 'home' in many of your photos. We're probably neighbours!

Congratulations. I'm sure I'm only one of many that voted for you and have your site bookmarked.

Posted by toronto gal at April 2, 2005 01:01 AM

great capture! i guess that what you call the 'perfect night shot'. i did it once with my 35mm and the photos turned out so bad that i just have to hide em. i keep one of them on my desk thou to remind me to use a tripod since i'm no expert like you. i hope i bummed into you sometimes. i hope you don't mind autographs! :)

Posted by Ian at April 8, 2005 10:07 AM

I had this photo opened in another window, and when I returned I only saw the bottom-part. My first reaction was: wow, miniature-puppets. And then I thought about recent photo's I saw with miniature-effect, and then I realised this was the incredible big stitched photo.

I really think you should post the bottom part as single photo. It's great and deserves more attention then only as a part of a big photo. It's seems almost like a plastic tableau. I love it!

(PS I didn't read the 84 comments, so forgive me if this has been said befpore)
