Comments: ice chunks at dusk

Wow, another absolutely amazing photo! The frame, the colors, everything is just perfect and the red light at the right adds some special touch.

I would love to have this photo as a wallpaper.

Besides reading my mails, visiting your site is the first thing I do every morning. Thanks a lot for sharing your photos. I plan to visit Toronto sometime soon and your photos and insights to this beautiful city are the reason for my decision.

the color of the ice mirrors the color of the sky...very cool. and i like that touch of red to the left. looks cold! glad im not in toronto.

Very eerie and forboding with the chunks of ice against the city backdrop. Nicely captured.

Wow, this is one damn fine photo. Excellent: the perspective, the contrast, the framing, and I really like the blue hue. Very Toronto, and yet not a common look at it.

Nice shot. But how come there are no lights coming from the buildings? There was no blackout recently was there?

The blue of the ice is one of my favourite colours. One only sees it at dusk or dawn in winter when the twilight causes the snow or ice to glow with an ethereal coblaltish colour, and it only lasts for a short while. One of the joys of winter! Gorgeous. Thanks for capturing it, Sam!!

GREAT photo. And indeed, the touch of red is wonderful!

Amazing shot. Do you take a lot of photos from Toronto Islands in winter?

I second the request for a wallpaper version of this.

I'd also love a wallpaper of this. I like the glowing red at the edge of the photo from Westin Hotel (if I'm not mistaken, since my father does work there!); it saves the picture from being a tad too uniform, colour-wise. Lovely framing.

Another great photo, the red bit makes it!
congradulations on winning the bloggie by the way ;)

It's nitpicky, I know, but it's Centre Island - note the Canuck spelling eh. Nice shot, as usual :-)

Thanks for satisfying my Toronto "fix." I've been there 4-5 times (from Rochester, Mn.) and love the architecture, the cultures, the festivals, the food...one year there were tall ships in the harbor!

Just before the city lights up. Great capture, interesting angle. Just another reason why you won the award. Congrats!

Well, I'm new to blogging and very much enjoying your site. I will echo some of my fellow commenters in saying that your photos make me want to visit Toronto. I've been to Montreal and Quebec and I love those cities - now I have a new place in Canada to visit.

Sam, this has to be one of your best. I check your site every morning with my e-mail. Brings a little light to someone working in one of those dark buildings.

Keep it up!

The blue of the icechunks and the blue of the sky is exactly the same. That's the most beautiful detail of the shot (at least IMHO). Of course it's perfectly framed as well...
