Comments: through wet window

After a nite of humidification, my window gets kinda wet too. Does "our" include me?

moody. dark. some deep emotional weight in this piece.

Personal Opinions:

"It was a dark and night day..." No offence, but it should have been a micro-shot of the droplets on the window, with the blur of the city in the background.. I would have given you a big thumbs up if you try that.

I would also like you to try a photo with dark black and blue tones like at the very bottom of this photo, it would be very interesting as well.

Great shot. I like how the frame of the window frames the picture.

the streaks of water seem to find the bits of light in the window with such ease.

In this window I find great comfort as it represents for me the different perspectives in the minds of people and events all over the world that are occuring at that very moment, while looking through the rainy glass into the outside world from the inside as to what March 8th will be...for some. Here, in America it is only the wee hours of March 8th. Comforting to see the then, now.

Love it. What did you do in that room? ;)

wow! Bladerunner in Toronto. Is that a Replicant driving past down below?

i like this one...and spring is almost here.

Personally not one of my favorite pictures. But that thunder storm yesterday afternoon was wild. It's been a while since I've heard thunder.. especially during the day. Surprised after the freezing cold last night that the city is dry.

Anyway, picture looks OK but I don't know... it looks like a last minute effort to me. Someone please prove me wrong. :)

hi sam :)
I was wondering if the publicity exhibition's admission is free? If not, how much is admission? Thanks :D
keep taking cool pics ;)

i like it! :)

I think you're pushing the limit on what's possible with a free handed shot. This composition seems slightly blurry to me. I like the concept (because i tried something similar a week ago), but maybe a tripod is in order.

Had to laugh at rhys' comment.

The buildings appear to be melting as well. Lovely photo.

What light through wet window breaks?

Posted by Peruby at March 8, 2005 03:57 PM

i came here to praise u for that one, but seems like u got enough praise already!anyway, good shot there...and funny how the dark n gloomy night made for such a lovely shot!

Posted by sab at March 8, 2005 04:20 PM

yes, i also found it somewhat blurred, especially in the lower part. and the wide lense doesn't seem to cope with the situation very well here. but then, the mood is nice...

Sam, this sums up yesterday evening in Toronto very well. The blur adds to the effect IMO. This one doesn't _have_ to be razor-sharp for the impact to be there.

Great shot. Personally I like that for once its not a micro shot of water droplets and we can view the whole window. The micro shot of water droplets has become so cliche.

The blance of the window frame and the buildings outside is great. I get a very strong movie like feel from this photo.

I think you have one of the most amazing views of toronto from your apartment. You are lucky to see that all the time.

Killer Shot - as usual! Who are these people telling YOU how you should have taken the shot? What audacity! You've got the greatest photoblog on the web.

beautiful. love the condensation streaks.

Posted by zerosun at March 8, 2005 09:47 PM

Great shot ;-) I can imagine just lying there listening to the rain trickle on the window.

Posted by Brian at March 8, 2005 10:12 PM

Wow, gloomy alright. I like the top windows. I think the bottom window ruins the effect and makes the fact that its not a very clear shot stand out more.

Posted by Raffi at March 8, 2005 10:34 PM

i love this! i think it was a great idea to include the entire window frame, nice one

Posted by tj at March 9, 2005 12:30 AM

Just wondering what time that would have been taken (it doesn't seem to be in the alt-text).

Though I do like the colours in this very much, this could be any damp evening if it's after sunset. Now, if it's at two in the afternoon ... or is that when the sun sets in Toronto this season :).

I really like this. I don't even know how to articulate how much I enjoy this one - so I'll just say that it is a great pic and I really appreciate your commitment to showing us your work each and every day. If you get a moment after the expo, I have a ? posted on the forum about the red bricks pic.

You sure do a great job of handholding your shots.
