i love the contrast between the bricks and door, reminds me of a photo i shot recently (but havent developed yet)....
Posted by kandi c at February 9, 2005 12:52 AMGreat textures.
Posted by Gloria at February 9, 2005 12:58 AMgreat contrast of textures. it almost looks like someone put a le glaze on the door and fired it like a piece of pottery.
Posted by fiona at February 9, 2005 01:33 AMColours and opposing textures are great.. Red vs Green. The brick wall and the red symbolizing "stop". The green door symbolizing "go". I find my self driven toward the green on the right and away from the red, yet the white splotches drag my eye back toward that oddly out of place window in the corner. The brown block on the door centers the piece. pulling it togther in the centre.
Whoever painted this house seemed to be in a hurry. However it was got half the paint on the bricks that was supposed to go on the wood.
Nice photo. Thanks again.
Posted by scott at February 9, 2005 01:58 AMVery Hi Tech Sture !
Very nice, man
I like those Vermeer colours.
Wd be wonderful if that lil metal padlock were not so firmly snapped shut !
Nicely gritty.
Posted by Edwinek at February 9, 2005 02:27 AMSam.... this is perfect. Complimentary colors at their best. Great framing. Great everything.
Posted by Abe at February 9, 2005 02:48 AMI love this image. The colour, the subject. Beautiful.
Posted by ciro at February 9, 2005 03:51 AMI like this one. For a moment, I was reminded of your Green Door in Rasht.

this is really really really beautiful, a beautiful play of colours. i love it!
Posted by melted lard at February 9, 2005 06:37 AMI think this is a great photograph. It takes a real artist to see something like this and recognize it's beauty.
Posted by Jeff Galak at February 9, 2005 08:00 AMThis is one of the best ones. You have to be very sensitive to catch those textures, or maybe you just are very creative. I like the picture, despite being just a design, there is something else to feel in it. You got an atmosphere in this shot...I really like it.
Wow. This is my fav photo from you in quite some time. Great framing, exposure, subject. I learn so much from your work. Thank you Sam.
Posted by Richard at February 9, 2005 10:45 AMTexture and lines. interesting
Posted by Graeme at February 9, 2005 10:52 AMproportions are a little bit screwed up.

Posted by . at February 9, 2005 03:57 PMI love this picture! the contrast between the red bricks and green door is beautiful! nice capture!
Posted by cameron at February 9, 2005 05:41 PMThis is really nice. I especially like how you choose to feature the textures here and didn't up the saturation of the colors any more than they already were.
Posted by luminouslens at February 9, 2005 06:49 PMooh christmas colors!
oh, not really.
-i like the contrast, the color is very nice.
This is definately a mac os9 desktop picture...
I think of the bricks as a solid, yet they have fluid, drizzly lines. I think of the paint as a liquid, yet it is crackled like a solid. Really beautiful contrast of material and colour and nice composition.
Posted by Alex at February 9, 2005 08:07 PMyour street photography is always excellent, you're very consistent
Posted by fernando at February 9, 2005 08:50 PMHah - I get it. Red and green are considered lucky colours in China.
Happy Chinese New Year!
(I miss my city less now that I can visit it through your website.)
Posted by christine at February 9, 2005 08:59 PMNice subdued colors and detail. Looks like a flag.
Posted by Vineet Mathur at February 9, 2005 11:32 PMYes, with the contrasting textures in patterns, very much to my taste.
Just adding a Kung Hee Fat Choy Green Wooden Chicken Year to y'all as well.
Posted by Epacris at February 10, 2005 02:51 AMThis is top notch! Really wonderful texture and tone. A fantastic composition.
Posted by MsCantBWrong at February 10, 2005 04:09 AMHilarious.
I actually walked past this location by chance a couple of days after having seen this picture and recognized it immediately when I happened to glance at the building... In fact it might just have been a memory of the combination of colours that caught my attention. I was so tickled about it and lost in amazement that I almost pissed my pants when the big Rotweiler next door jumped barking at the gate as I walked by.
Thanks for giving me a way to see the city in a different way.
Posted by Yermum at February 14, 2005 10:24 AMGreat Contrast!! seems like the meeting of two worlds
Posted by EricCotter at February 22, 2005 06:11 PMBeen flicking thru yr pics, just had to comment on this one. Quite static, but the beauty is in the composition, the way the color-moods interact... and the fantastic detail! I can almost feel the textures of the brick and glazed-green door.
