Comments: reflection III

Thats cool how its sort of like a "image echo" in the sense that the picture is echoed twice on the car because of the different angles...

Plus the shakes of blue are pretty nice.

How you have the eye for these things, is beyond me. Nice work.

Am I in boringville?

Posted by Boreo at February 4, 2005 12:47 AM

It's Blue. It's Shinny and its pretty...

Not much else to say about this one, except thanks again for another great view of the city I love so much.

that warping looks insane! WHAT A CLEAN CAR!! haha

Posted by bluemonkey at February 4, 2005 03:48 AM

Amazing shot, well spotted!

Good picture!!! I like the color of the car and the (kind of) symetry that the CN Tower and other building. Also the long white vertical string (?) in the car makes for a well divided image.

Posted by Abid at February 4, 2005 08:11 AM

what a clean car!!!!!!!!!

Posted by negar at February 4, 2005 08:11 AM

Where did you find a clean car this time of year?

lol

Great shot.

Posted by Re-Pete at February 4, 2005 08:41 AM

It looks like a Honda Accord, and it's not dirty from the sand on the roads.

Posted by Ed at February 4, 2005 08:59 AM

how on earth, in the middle of winter, can a car be so clean? mine is crusty with slush and salt, but then again i live in Ottawa where we have real winters ;)

Posted by sal at February 4, 2005 09:22 AM

As I looked at this pictures at school, some guy walked by and asked me what it is. I told him it's the CN Tower, reflected on a car, and he looks at me and goes "what's that?!" and he said no one knows what it is, and being Americans we only like ourselves and don't think about Canada. Not true! I do. But the only way I could convince him it was worth is time is by telling him "It's like the Space Needle, only better"

I like how you managed to capture two reflections in one shot. Well spotted.

Posted by Miron at February 4, 2005 11:25 AM

hahah John, dont worry us Canadians know there are Americans out there with a brain here and there. ;) It irritates me when people make it seem like anything outside of their borders is not worth their time. Blah but anyways, I'd like to make a correction to my previous comment here (first one). I said shakes, but I meant to say shades. *sigh* lol

Oh and to the people who are saying its a boring shot, I'd like to see any of you to try and have an eye for anything relatively close to that.

1.wow!
2.great reflection!!!
3.love it!!!!!

This makes me think of Plato's famous simile: what we perceive of life around us is about as accurate as if we were watching shadows cast by figures moving past a fire burning at the mouth of a cave. (Forgive the flaws in my recollection!)
You offer a nice vehicle for embarking on anti-car-culture diatribes: blue car, shiny but empty, relating unreachable unrealities "in patterns not our own".

great finding, .... Very interesting composition

Posted by Reza at February 4, 2005 12:56 PM

I love the double reflection in this shot. And like others have said too, I'm amazed to see a car so clean and shiny in mid-winter. :)

Posted by sherry at February 4, 2005 02:00 PM

You've got a great eye!

Posted by buggy at February 4, 2005 02:09 PM

well spotted Sam...but did you have this car detailed before the shot?? and to the guy that thinks he's in boringville, he must have a pretty boring mind himself if thats the most witty comment he can come up with, maybe the big L on his forehead is hampering him somewhat...

Posted by david macdonald at February 4, 2005 02:17 PM

Fantastic photo!

It's almost surreal how the reflections point in the same direction when you'd expect one of them to be the reflection of the other.

Posted by Ewan at February 4, 2005 02:23 PM

wow !

Posted by lorna at February 4, 2005 02:34 PM

What a clean car, isn't it?
=)

Posted by Flow at February 4, 2005 04:22 PM

Funny how everyone is assuming that this shot was taken recently - maybe it was from last summer, when it was actually possible to drive a clean car for more that a few minutes. The salt-stained, sand-smudged cars of winter make the shine of a summer car all the more beautiful. I love the variety of seasons!

Great observation skills as always, Sam! Thanks for reminding me to look at everything.

Now this is a nice picture!

One of your best ever. The composition is perfect.

1. You have a good camera.
2. No doubt, you can appreciate every single thing in life.
3.There is a lack of spirit, life, movement and something else.
4. You have talent, but despite the warm day we had today, you were too cold.
5. I think I saw the bald guy from yesterday in down town. Heh!!!

Posted by Fer at February 4, 2005 11:44 PM

Thank you, Sam.

I have my browser start up to your home page every day and I always get a ping of excitement wondering what the next shot will be...

Thanks, again!

it's cool when you think that the only thing that makes colors is the reflection of light- beautifully demonstrated here.

Posted by Luscious_Liz at February 5, 2005 04:20 PM

nice picture, surreal and all modern.
