Comments: village idiot

This is a very nice, inviting pic. I am telling everyone about your site because your talent and quality are amazing. And your captions make your pics so much the better.

I can't wait to get my 300D. I have begun the countown of sorts (to receiving the camera) on my blog. I am trying to think of a creative name for a new photo-blog... I'm open to anyone's ideas.

Wow! Just looking to this lot of snow make fell my bones freezing. It´s summer here in south, I think a litle bit of this snow could be my air cond. take a rest.
Well caught this momment.

Exceptionally nice streetscape. I appreciate the details both in the shadows and the snow. It's well composed, from the red-light on the right that adds a bit of color and interest, to the folks that appear to be posing in the scene. I'm assuming it was done with with the wide-angle end of the lens and was perspective corrected. Great job.

Heh, that's a good name for a pub.

It's a good photo, too. The leading lines and composition, the haze in the distance, the empty roads.. very nice.

I miss the pubs of Toronto - I have to say that I've never been to the Village Idiot before, but it makes me curious.

I like how they also have the French translation of their name.

Nice photos, keep up the good work.

I have to wonder what this pic would look like black and white? Perhaps with a touch of noise added to age it. Reminds me very much of old photographs (circa 1920) of Toronto, especially with the streetcar wires overhead.

Good pic: a walk down memory lane.

Posted by Jonesy at February 1, 2005 09:21 AM

WoW! That's alot of wires! Love the picture though.

Hi from Italy.
I love Toronto but i never been there in wintertime.
One of my favourite place is Queen Street (from Spadina to east). How is the Queen in this period?

May be your photos can give me some sense of winter. Here in Calgary we have been above zero degree for more than a week. Once in a while some fog may be, but no white blanket since I don't know when.

holy...
I've been looking through your archives, and you are one helava talented photographer. How did you get so good? your abstract photos are particuarly brilliant. you put us all to shame. keep it up!

Excellent pub - I hope you went in.

HI ! :-D

I have just had a little crazy idea : "the 36 strainers project" (see my blog). My goal is also, by the way, to make discover others blogs to my usual visitors.

It's great fun ! Please take part !

PS : excuse my poor english.

A bientôt ?

one word "serenity"

Posted by boogieman at February 1, 2005 02:49 PM

Hey thats a nice pic. It looks sooo serene... and just like "come on down and relax" sort of. If that makes any sense =P

Loving how the store name is called "village idiot" ;) And also how the road is purely snow and no plow how come through yet.

Gorgeous picture. I remember that day. You can even see my house in the picture. And the pub - very nice place for a beer in the evening with a good friend...

C-c-c-cold!

Snowfalls in Toronto are inspiring, so long as you don't have to drive in them.

Good capture of the neighbourhood watering hole. My Digital Rebel (aka 300D) is on order. I can't wait!

nice photo. I like the lighting of the pub sign.
Ive recently started to dabble my amature hands into photography too. It sure helps to pass the time and I notice it makes you more alert and likely to notice small details that otherwise would go unnoticed.

Wish I had time to make a sight to display some of the imagery of my life here in Japan, but honestly I just havent got that much spare time to devote to it. What with work and an active social life here

You can see it in black and white. I still use Irfanview, it's free. http://www.irfanview.com/
Just copy any image to your desktop, open it in Irfanview and choose "convert to greyscale". If the picture is copyright-ed, delete it when you are done looking at it.

What a great photograph. I come here every day for a look, but this one I just had to comment on.

l'diot du village?
it's just great!

Posted by mari at February 10, 2005 05:13 AM

Very beautiful! The white sky contrast with the black wires overhead, likeness a strange spider's web. The red of the store, the red of the stop lights..... marvelous!

Posted by Sonia at February 15, 2005 03:47 PM

It's a nice and cozy pub!

Memories of a visit from Scotland last May. My daughter captured me through the Moore sculpture with the pub name! Your site is wonderful. I love the memories it conjures up.

My neighbourhood pub looking all Canadiana !

Very good. Reminds I should always bring my camera along with me...
