looks OVER-SATURATED on my screen

haha, you always name the image after the smallest thing in the photo. Nice shot.

the colours look unreal and overly saturated. Maybe thats only because I know what coffee time cups look like ;).

I like how the caution tape drags your eye through the image. Incidentally I have a similar shot on my blog today.

Sam,

Yuck. Sorry, but yuck. You can do better.

that cup is definately hideous. Saturation levels look too high, but oh well, there's always tomorrow

Seems to be a bit of a theme going on today:

The coffee time cup in yours sends a good social message.

I hate to be the prick here, but this photo best illustrates what I tell people these days. (FIRST and foremost, Sam is VERY talented on MOST days he proves it on this website)
Today's image illustrates that if u have the know how and a digital SLR, one can make nearly ANY photo look descent - or worth looking at. All u have to do is see something "different" or obviosly scenic, and take a pic of it, then sharpen it to death in photoshop and boost the colour levels....
Let it be know that many photos seen on the web would not be the same in print, as sharpening them does not transfer beyond the computer screen.
Tht's all i have to say - today. Let it not be a knock on Sam's talent - he obviosly is good at what he does, its just that too many people think some of this stuff is some kin do miracle, which it isnt ( like today's photo)
Cheers

i agree with everyone else, these colours are crazy saturated. i'm all about doing stuff like that in photoshop, it can really add to a photo (especially ones that are mostly sky) but this one looks really odd and kinda gross

There is more to image-making than pure esthetics .. . and this photo demonstrates that perfectly. While not the prettiest photo to look at, the image has a social message. Look between the pixels.

I like it. Wow do I ever miss Coffee Time, but most of all I miss Second Cup... Really could go for an irish cream for hazelnut coffee.

I think people should consider that it might be due to the difference in screen that the photo looks better or worse on some screens. On my screen it looks fine. Coffee cup is a bit bright is all.

Oh I do feel it necissary to state that simply because some people differ in opinion and happen to like this photo it doesnt mean they are ignorant or lacking in knowledge. I understand how colour correction is used to alter a lot of these photos. I am sure most visitors here quickly become educated in the subject. Post processing does not deter from the subject matter captured here or the artistic balance of the piece. Simply I like whats in the photo. The balance of the objects and the tape running through it. It's another example of Sams good eye and sense of balance. Far from mediocre or average in my humble opinion.

This picture reminds of the construction dumping of concrete and bricks at the end of Leslie Spit. You should bike out there and take some pictures there.
